If you were to go to Kentucky to gun or bow hunt, on public land, where would you go? Is it crowded?

I don't know, but I drove through the Bluegrass Parkway between Lexington and Elizabethtown this past weekend and saw dead deer along the road seemed like every mile.

Yea, a buddy of mine went to Indiana on a public land hunt and killed a nice big mature buck. They go every year and he says he see's more dead deer on the side of the road in Kentucky than anywhere he's ever been. Thought about doing a public land hunt up there next year.

Good luck. It is a lot tougher than I would have thought. I've been up 4 long weekends this year and was there twice before the season scouting, plus turkey hunted in May. Add on to that, the fact that I have a friend who lives an hour away and he has scouted some without me, and we ran a half dozen trail cams from August to mid September. I've seen 1 deer that was prob 160 and another 2 that were 120-130. My dad went twice and passed a 120ish and spooked a boomer at 25yds behind him. My buddy that lives up there killed a 115ish 8pt and saw 2 or 3 120-140s out of range. That's a total out of probably 30 or more days in the woods on bow only public ground

My recommendation is to find you some archery only areas that are draw only. If you get drawn, go hunt. If not, just wait until next year.

Wow, maybe i just need to go to Indiana. My buddy and his family goes, and are not deer experts by no means, and they kill good quality bucks, some 150's, at least every other year.
