Maybe Richt will replace Vern Lundquist.

I think either Herman or Mullen to Georgia.

The door has been left open for CMR to remain at UGA in another capacity. I would like to see them fire the AD and replace with Richt.

I just can't us hiring Kirby Smart. Lets face it, he coaches under the possibly the best defensive minded coach on the planet and does what he told to do. It is a big step to go from a DC or OC to head ball coach. We need someone with experience as a HC, who can come in win and win immediately. Its not like they are taking over a program in shambles, we have a lot of depth and talent. Even thought we just lost Floyd who announced he was going pro now that Richt was dismissed. He was likely going anyways. I would take Les Miles in a heartbeat, hell bring Spurrier back, now that would be a hoot to have OBC in Athens.

Whoever it may be, I expect them announce it very soon with recruiting going hot and heavy for the next couple of weeks.

With the unreal salaries coaches get now, if they don't make the final 4 cut then they should all be fired. Bear Bryant refused a raise because he said it wasn't right for a football coach to make more than the president of the university. I realized times have changed but if a man gets paid 6 million dollars a year then we should expect 6 million dollars worth of results.

If Kirby takes the job, he is pretty much in a no win situation. They are saying Richt will hang around and do some administrative work and jump heavily into recruiting. (See how a similar situation worked out with Dye hanging around!)
And, a large part of the fan base is still on the Richt bandwagon, or with a large amount of people clamoring for a coach with head coaching experience.
I don't see much upside for Kirby at UGA. If I were him, I'd take a serious look at USCe.
What say? (Look at AJC.com?

Im calling it now, Georgia just had a Phil Fulmer incident. Given the choice of losing Jeremy Pruit or Richt they chose their defensive coordinator to keep him. I bet Pruit is named head coach?????

From what I am hearing, Kirby will be headed to UGA, done deal beforehand. Richt will take on the role as an assistant AD and will be heavily involved in fund raising and recruiting. Pruitt will remain. I just hope he decides to keep Tracy Rocker and hire a freaking special teams coach.

Schotty's days as OC are numbered for certain.

Gotcha, you have to realize that Richt is not a whiskey in the hand kind of guy when he rolls out of bed. His influence will be more positive than Dye ever was or still is at AU.

Realize that Muzzie. Somewhat familiar with the situation, and with Richt around, he will stay high profile no matter what duties he takes. I bet that at least 1/3 of the UGA fans were wanting Richt to stay. A "possible" reason for discord in the future and his presence will only prolong it in my opinion.

Tom Herman is the current Houston coach, they are 11-1 this year. One of the top hot young coaches.

Gus Malzhan was a hot young coach after his first year at Auburn too... grin

Now he's lost 11 games in 2 years...

I should have clarified that Richt will take on assistant AD if he decides to. The offer is on the table. I am hearing that he is going to accept another head coaching job now and will not remain at UGA. Can't say that I blame him if that is what he selects.

I'm UGA 110% but I would love to see him leave UGA, take a head coaching job, then play UGA in NC game and beat UGA. Guess I am Richt fan too.

Bill Curry went 10-2 his last year at Bama with an SEC championship. They was chunking bricks through his window with death threats tied to them. You don't beat AU at Bama....you gone.

yep... That was a weird deal. Alabama people never liked Curry, kind of like Auburn people never liked Tuberville or Bowden. Weird how some coaches never seem to fit in at a particular school.

The worse their team gets, the better they know Bama football history.

Didn't the brick story turn out to be a hoax? He had already excepted the Kentucky job before the iron bowl.

Leaving Alabama for Kentucky says a lot about his commitment to winning.
