Well Tripp wanted to go hunting this weekend so I figured I would take him. I knew this trip in the woods would be about him not me. I sprayed him down with cover scent, and then asked him did he want to tote the BINOs he lit up.. We got to walking in and he would stop every 5 feet and look. He was "hunting hard" Got to the food plot and there is a dog in the field I could not make the dog leave the field how I wanted to because he was with me. So I just acted like I did not see him. At this time I had already chalked up this hunt up. We get settled in the stand and I just prayed and thanked the lord for allowing me to have family that loved me, a place to hunt and a son that could hunt with me. I prayed to the good lord and asked for atleast one deer so Tripp could see it. He comes thru like he always does. We saw one doe. Tripp got to see her in the Binos in all. He said dad this is so cool. Tripp stayed quite only coughed 3 or 58 times LOL over all a great first hunt with my son. Glad I can show him the ways my grandfather taught me. "Daddy get my boots in the picture" For the first time. What should I NOT forget? I'm excited. I know it's a hunt for him. He is excited. I will post pics after we are out of the woods.

I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

SNACKS!!! When you pack snacks once you pack what seems reasonable throw in another few items. IF my 4 year old would eat all the time like he does when we are in the woods his 40 lb self would weigh a good 10 lbs more than he does now. I also let mine carry his leap pad, coloring book, etc. I make him a little back pack to carry with a flash light and hand warmers so he thinks he is being like dad.
Mine thinks peeing out of the shooting house or ladder stand is cool so I just let him do it.
Good Luck! It's going to be an awesome experience. Take bunches of pictures
We are not perfect, only forgiven!!!

iPad is fully charged. Snacks ready I've got a water bottle in the shooting house so that's a check. Now its just time to wait for this afternoon.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

sleeping bag to wrap em in or to lay on.... X2. I spread his sleeping bag out on the ground in our pop out blind. Helps to cut down on sound when he moves.

That's why a walmart bag comes in handy. Have them take there pants off stick there legs in the holes and pull them up like a diaper. Take care of business and tie the bag off. That's what me and dad do with my son when we are fishing in the boat. Not only is it convenient but it's also hilarious
We will burn that bridge when we get there

The most important thing to carry is patience, remember that they are kids and if they bump the shooting house or sneeze or cough or laugh....no matter what fun comes first. Me and my little boy had been sitting in a shooting house and a hour before dark he wanted to get down and look for tracks in the field. We did and bet I had more fun doing that than I had in a long time
Let them walk ...and grow them big

A lot of good advice above. Most of all, have fun. It's these kind of situations they'll never forget. The best thing to spend on your kids is "time". Good luck.
I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

God bless you brother for your attitude and demonstrating your priorities in hunting and especially life. God, Family, then you!! The Lord will bless you for that.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
