I just watched the video and it is bad for the police officer. He is going to jail for a long time.

Many times i can understand a cop shooting all in his clip.
In the heat of the moment I don't think they realize how many times they have fired until the clip is empty. In alot of cases a person is hit many times in non lethal areas and keeps coming. Not this time tho.

There is nothing in that video to justify that officer firing ONE shot, much less 16.

Are officers trained to unload a full clip into a subject if deadly force is determined? Just asking.I mean we can all set back and see what happened, although horrible, was this just reaction to training or adrenaline? If so I think sensitive percepions are always going to convict.

I imagine that officer will see the other side of the prison system fairly soon. Not one thing in the video gave him any justification for firing his gun at that kid. Obviously none of the other officers saw a need, just Billy Badass. Pretty sure a taser or two can handle a 3 inch pocket knife, PCP or not.

Looks really bad for the cop. Only thing I wonder is if he made a motion with his left hand toward his pocket after possibly being given an order. Perhaps that lack of compliance triggered something in the cop. As far as the prolonged shooting after he's lying on the ground, not sure what on earth that's about.

There was no reason for even one round to be fired. And then the Chicago PD kept this video under wraps for over a year. Somebody in the PD has gone to a LOT of trouble to try to sweep this under the rug. And the cop should hang. Tonight.

I don't think anybody is hating. They are just tired of irresponsible behavior. I am not defending the cop, but is pretty obvious the dead guy would still be alive if he wasn't running in the middle of the street high on PCP and waving a knife.

Fact is. Chicago PD and the officer have a lot of explaining to do. The guy could have been taken down with any number of non-lethal methods.

By saying he would be alive if he wasn't high and in the street, you are putting the blame on him.

He shouldn't have been high and running in the street with a knife, but that shouldn't lead to his death at the hands of a cop. There is no excuse for the cop killing him.

Next thing you know, some of you will be defending a cop who kills a guy who was driving drunk and is mouthing off. I mean, he wouldn't be dead if he was sober and polite.

From looking at the video, the guy was surrounded by at least three officers and more were on the way. I'm sure there were enough tasers and night-sticks handy to bring him in without shooting him.

I feel that this cop just panicked and overreacted. His partner said he was hyperventilating ,etc.

He shot too quick, and too much, and killed that kid.

The kid was drugged up and holding a weapon, but he was far enough away that he wasnt yet an immediate threat. And there were enough LEO's to control it.

If he charged at them to danger close, that would be one thing, but he didnt.

Very sad for both of them. One lost his life and the other will go to prison while trying to do a very difficult job.

However, the family has gotten financial damages for their loss, and the officer has been arrested and charged with murder.
They should be happy to see that he will be punished, so...why are they protesting?

It is called a justice system...and that is justice under this system. Had he been anyone of our sons, I feel that would be the same outcome. Officer charged, and civil damages.
