I started doing it about 2yrs ago and I believe in it. Keep a bag of the hickory chips in your car, they put off a strong smoke. Also read that you should use hardwood smoke over pine, etc.
we have a metal can at the club that I start a fire in when I get there and as I get dressed I will do it around the smoke.

My father-in- law has been burning wood before and during hunts for as long as I can remember .... Smoke pours into the bottoms we hunt . It doesn't hurt my hunts. And easy to do on private land... He's been hunting bama his entire life ..and knew what he was doing .. It took me awhile to figure it out but it is the best scent control ever

I've been selling those for years for $14.95.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

I would rather use cover scent, cannot stand the smell of a fire. To each his own!
