Can anybody share some tips on finding fall/winter crappie. We catch some fish this weekend but they where small. I couldn't buy one on a jig. Some older guys told me to go get some minnows. We caught some on them. I fished main channel brush all the way to shallows. Shot docks on main channel also. No strikes in the main. Small ones in 8' of water in brush. Thanks for any info.

Friend of mine used to catch them 15-25' with minnows, just saying. Might be worth a try I'm not as die hard of a fisherman as he was, but it was nothing for him to catch 20-30 almost every trip he went and sometimes alot more than that.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

The big ones will be with the small ones. Get 4 or so rods rigged up with slip bobbers and shiners. Each one needs to be at a different depth until you get them dialed in. Dont fish them too deep. A crappie will come up to bite but rarely will they drop to bite. The smaller ones might be coming up so you could drop maybe 6" and try them again. Electronics are key for submerged brush

fished there for three days past weekend. fish were in 3 - 12fow. went thru 4 or 5 small ones for every keeper. only bit minners. water temp was 71 to 74. most caught off docks with brush piles, should get better with water temps going down

My FIL went last week. Had to catch 10-15 dinks for every keeper.
