I had two does and a little one bedded 20 yards from my tree stand. They would not leave! I didn't really want them to watch me climb my tree but I had no choice. That sat there the entire time I climbed up and then got situated! Finally they just eased over the ridge. Craziest chit I've seen in a while!

Very windy this morning .. But I'm here just waiting. I'm set up on the edge of a 1 year old clear cut that has weeds and cover about 5ft tall. Oaks in front of me clear cut to my right and left and a 5 year old clear cut behind me. Good luck to all

Sitting where I was opening morning. It's a little nipply out this morning. I had frost on my 4 wheeler seat. I'm paying for loading that doe by myself yesterday evening. My back is killing me.

At Cahaba wma hunting a powerline down in a hardwood creek bottom. Set up on the ground on top of a ridge. Not sure if I would shoot a small buck or doe this morning. Really gunning for a big one this bow season. Who knows I might just pull a Ted Nugent and decide last minute if the spirit is with the animal. That guy cracks me up.

Sitting in oaks and crunched acorns. Been here 40 minutes. 45 and I forgot my hat. Better than locking keys in truck though.

Friend is 400 yards, sitting in on road with acorns from oaks on ridge.

Shaw I too am paying for my decision to go get my doe through the swamp. I ended up in water to my neck. The ground looked marshy but really no bottom to the two holes I steeped in. Pitch black in the swamp - wallet, pistol, phone, etc. was submerged. Ok to be honest I got a little scared when the landowner had advised us to watch for moccasins. No recovery but sore and warn out. On the positive side, I found good blood. I watched her bleed but when I went to get her she walked very slowly deeper in the swamp. So taking the morning off and watching the kids enjoy cheering and playing football. Good hunting to you all!

I'm set up on a hardwood ridge and hulapopper is set up at the end of this ridge. Hopefully one or both of us will connect this morning. Good luck to everyone that's hunting!

I'm on the ground today on the edge of a power line. Lots of oaks around and this place has produced in the past according to club members. Hopefully try to stick one trying to cross.

First sit of the season on the Marshall/Madsison Co line. Very nice hardwood bottom with a creek running along side it. Hopefully I'll get my first bow kill today. Good luck to everyone else!

Just shot my first deer with a bow! I've got a bloody arrow but I don't see any on the ground. I'm going to wait a little while before I start looking.

Congrats reaper!!! I've been on a ridge mixed with white, red and chestnut oaks. I'm in Samantha Alabama for this mornings hunt. I jumped a herd walking in well before first light. Once I got settled I could here 3 different bobcats calling to each other. I've only seen 2 squirrels so far but i did hear a deer slipping behind me up on top of the ridge. Be safe and happy hunting.

GO NOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the bloody arrows, sorry about the miss SuperSpike.

I'm posted up in the house, wife is making some biscuits, eggs, and bacon. Decided to spend the morning with her. Probably a good call. Planning on going out this evening to the same spot I was at yesterday. All the deer movement I see on my cameras is in the evening, so I'm hoping today is the day!

Just watched a gray fox trot by my stand with breakfast. Couldn't tell what it was, but he sure was happy.

Over excited. I ranged everything right at daylight so I knew when he reached a certain spot he was 35yds. Had it been a doe I may have been able to contain it but wasn't expecting 3 bucks to walk right to me. I'm still shaking. This has and is a challenge like no other for me.

You aint kidding. Thats actually the 1st deer I've ever been able to shoot at so thinking back I think I may not have been able to block that out during the draw.
Hay bale I was pulling for you the other evening and hate you weren't able to recover yours. And your right I think I'd rather miss. I think my next opportunity I can try to settle down a bit.

I'm not 100% sure. I was shaking so damn bad I'm surprised the arrow went in the direction I was aiming.

The blood will likely be faint for the first 70-100 yards because the deer is running wide open. Somewhere around 100+ yards the deer probably stopped and started walking and if hit good the blood should hopefully pick up.

Pretty sure I heard a 600 lb skunk-ape clicking his teeth when I walked in this morning!!! #climbed6storiesfastasacat

Seen a good shooter 8pt with two basket racked deer, but they were about 100 yards. Seen 7 (or 8) does, all too far as well.

It's likely that the blood spots are spread way out if the deer was still running. How much blood are you finding in the spots where your finding it?

I'm back at the house now. I saw three does before daylight and a doe and a little one at 7:15. No horns though. I checked a cam that was under the tree I sat in this morning and had two of my hit list bucks on it at 3 am opening morning. All I need is one of them to show in daylight.

Congrats on those who drew blood this morning, reaper I hope you find your deer buddy

Pretty good blood until it just stops. If I could find the next batch I'd probably be ok.

Reaper, mark where you last found blood so you can easly spot it. Then start making SLOW circles all the way around that spot evenly. If still no more blood, continue your circles but slowly get wider and wider. BUT GO SLOWLY AND VERY CAREFULLY, you will pick back up on the blood.

Congrats, Reaper!!!

I'm not hunting today. My aunt passed away and her funeral is today, so we'll all be with the family today. Good luck, everyone! Kill a big 'un!

Good luck to everyone, congrats to those who dropped one. Haven't decided if I am going to get out there this afternoon or not.

Stuck this one this morning. Not my biggest buck with a bow but a nice 3 year old 8. Went and hunted an acorn flat that my dad was killing deer off of 30 years ago. Big flat loaded with chinkapins, rocks, and nasty thick cedars. Haven't scouted it at all but the deer been doing the same thing for as long as I can remember. Sure enough deer all over when I got there and this guy showed up about at 8 and about 100 yards down the mountain. I thought he was going to feed on around but as luck would have it he turned and walked straight up towards me. I only had one opening before he crossed a ditch and into so thick stuff and it was a steep angle shot at 47 yards. I adjusted the HHA for 42, drew back then let one fly at him. Even with the compenation I still Hit him a tad high and a little back but knew I got at least one lung. Gave him a little while and went and checked for arrow and blood. Found both but bumped him as he wasnt 50 yards from where I shot him. I backed out and me and Dad picked up the trail about 2 hours later. Sure enough we trailed him another 200 yards and found him. He is no monster but 14" wide both brows were busted off, he had kickers off the bases in the back.He gone eat good!

Thanks everybody. My phone is dead so I'll post pics in a little while. Nice buck Demp! Now, does anybody have a recommendation for a good deer cart? I don't think I can drag any more that far. If she would have been a little bigger I would have been in trouble.

Pics added in the bow kill thread.

First sit in AL this year. Saw 10 total this morning. Several does and fawns and a spike. Decided to stick this guy instead. 30 yards quartering slightly to me. Went about 15 yards then 4 does/fawns walked right up on him 15 mins later. Nice buck demp17

I just got settled in a climber between a green field and a clear cut. Its a draw with about a dozen white oaks. Should be a primo spot, which means I probably won't see anything lol

First day to bow hunt in 20 years. Have never shot at, much less shot and killed, a deer with a bow. Put up this ground blind 2 weeks ago. Had virtually no deer on this end of the field for about 10 days, but have had up to 4 deer at a time within 20 yards of the ground blind in the past few days (thanks to timelapse trailcam). Have a strong north wind in my face.

Sitting off the edge of a small plot. Several hardwoods, a pine thicket, and a pond. Pics of a decent 8. Hope to see him in person. Wind is kinda squirrelly and sucking right now. Maybe he takes a trip around the edge of the pond and through the field like several evenings since mid September. Be safe everyone and good luck.

Congrats on the kills this morning guys.

I'm setup in a cedar tree this evening on a cut corn field the borders a pine thicket to the west and a creek bottom to the north and east. Got skunked on stand this morning, got back to the truck and looked down the road and there were 10 does and littlens standing there. Bout the luck.

Hopefully this evening produces different results.

Good luck guys.

Just smoked a Coyote @ 40 yards, ran 10 yards and piled up. Had to climb down and go move that stinking bastard from in front of my stand.

No come on with the deer.

This guy wander by my stand about 8:30 this morning. Rage did a real number on him, ran about 40 yards, watched him fall. First buck with a bow. Not a trophy to anyone but me.

Congrats everyone. Can't wait to see the pictures!

I posted up the same place as last night. Kept hearing deer walking but didn't see anything. It got too dark to shoot with my bow so I lowered it down and started to climb down. Half-way down...saw 4 fatty fat doe. Glad to see the deer, sad I didn't get a shot, but I now the direction they are traveling, so I'll move further that way next weekend!

Congrats guys on the kills! I did no see anything this morning.Well, except I did have the game warden drive up on me and check me as I was getting back to my vehicle. It was all good, I am/was legal and showed him my info and we shot the breeze for a bit. I thanked him for checking our property. I thought it was strange, that he was in the middle of our 1700ac lease.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

Only deer I seen was a old bruiser of a 6 pt. Biggest deer I've ever had come in on me. He got within 35 yds but not in a shooting lane.

Congrats guys. I have made 2 sits now and not one deer seen but I have seen the same 7 long beards both times. I have a feeling that one of em is gonna get a load of #5s to the face here in about a month if they will keep this pattern up.

Yeah cmon. Daniel White

I didn't see anything on either sit today. Disappointing but still nice to be out in the woods.
