I guess I won't be huntin opening day.. I was firing my crossbow making sure everything was good and sighted in. On the last shot POW!! That thing sounded like a 22 goin off the string came back and hit my neck boy did that hurt! Needless to say I won't be slaying any deer for a good while. There was nothing in the way of the string. The arrow was in the slot I just had it restrung about a year ago an haven't fired it until about an hour ago mad frown

Did you lube the strings before shooting it?

Don't let this stop you man. You are going to have to spend the money to either fix it or buy a new one. Might as well do it now.

If it's a Parker it should have a lifetime warranty. If not, I hate it for you, but there is time to get another one.

Dang. Got me scared. I never had a new string put on mine and I guess it's 9-10 years old. My other bow is a recurve. I enjoy it the most. Might leave the crossbow hanging in closet.

That is why a bowhunter and an xgun shooter are not the same. Bowhunters have been shooting their bows. Xgun shooters thinks its a damn rifle. Glad you aren't hurt. Flamers start now, but its my freakin opinion. This proves I'm right.

What a moron. So you've never heard of a "bowhunter" grabbing his bow a couple days before the first hunt, sling some arrows and call it good? Many crossbow shooters like myself practice more than the average vertical bow shooter.

Shot my bow three times today at 20, 30, 40. That'll do just fine. Won't take a shot over 25 though Thursday. Would just wait for a chip shot at some point.

you owe it to the animal to make a good shot, that requires practice. Not picking that thing up a couple of days before the season starts.

Riflenut, name pretty much sums it up. Most bowhunters here hunt more with their bow and would join a bow only club. Anyone can sling lead 100 yards. getting the animal 20 steps from you requires alot more skill. Anyone that just grabs their bow and goes hunting is asking for failure.

I got a buddy that's not into bow huntin but has a bow. Couple of years ago he got the itch and went up the mtn to sit on a stump to watch it get dark and just before dark the deer he had been trying to kill for two years walks by at 25 yds. He let one fly and got a little hair off the brisket,he learned a big lesson that evening.

Correct, my name does say it all. Shooting rifles and reloading is a year round thing for me. Your holier than thou attitude is what is wrong with some hunters. Because I may choose to shoot a crossbow and a rifle, I'm not as good as you. I would assume folks shooting recurves and longbows would frown on your equipment. I'm glad to hear you're passionate about your bow and bow hunting. It's sad that you can't say the same about others who choose to hunt with their choice of weapons.
