Ive got a double man ladder stand and a box stand. Im trying to figure out which stand I need to sit in on thursday. The double man overlooks the entire field. The box stand looks over the food plot and 3-4 acres of the field. I havent had any deer on my camera yet on the plot so I dont know if I need to sit in the box stand or the ladder stand. Let me know what yall think ill try to get pics of the views today. thanks
Its better to sit in a stand and think about God, then to sit in church and think about hunting.

Neither. Hunt in the woods between a bedding area and a food source. Agreed, find some acorns dropping

Woods. And after that get back in the woods. Acorns or close to well traveled trails 200 years off the plot- catch them staging up.

if ya want to see some deer, maybe take a long shot er three hunt the fields
if ya want to KILL a deer get off the fields and hunt trails or acorn trees that are dropping.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Depends on a lot of factors.....If the ladder is sitting right on the field in the wide open with no cover I wouldn't attempt to kill a deer out of it with a bow. Some folks say they get away with it but I guess I wear a glowing neon sign that says "Danger, you bout to git kilt." I get busted every time without cover. If I were you, get in there at about 4:00am on opening day, sit on in an area where you can observe the plot without getting busted....watch the deer go to their beds....then plan accordingly. Find the major trail that leads out of the plot and follow it back to a food source. There's always a food source between a major field and the bed you just gotta find it. Whether it be acorns, honeysuckle, or persimmons, it is there. Now if the bedding is right next to the plot then that is the only reason I would hunt the plot. Don't go in there tomorrow and stomp around, that'll guarantee you won't see anything.
