This buck was found dead in Central Baldwin County.....more than likely poached from what goes on out there. We don't have the jawbones unfortunately but we were hoping we may be able to get a good guesstimate. I'm not sure even if you can get an age from the top teeth but I'd figure I'd try anyway. I'll post a better pic of the teeth tomorrow.

I asked because the "beading" around the bases looks sharp, one of the signs of death in Sept or prime EHD season. Usually those deer are found near, or in, water.

he looks to be at least six or seven.

Here's some better pix Troy. Thanks for y'all's response. He was found close to a campground but not really that close to water. Water is nearby but he wasn't next to it.

Sure wish I had the jawbones. He was found in late Jan./early Feb. this year.

based on those pics I'd put month of death at Aug/Sept, late hard velvet/just starting to shed. Base has NOT been rubbed much, if at all. Still could be EHD, date of death fits.

Yeah that is a good point Troy. There is still a lot of velvet in the burr on the back side too. The burrs should be worn a lot more than than if he died later in the season. I have another skull I want ya to look at too. This one is just flat out mind boggling......
