Somewhat of a spin-off from the "When are you planting" thread. This will be my first attempt at fall plots. I have one 1-acre field that I'm putting most of my effort into. About half of it is currently planted in soybeans. Before too long we'll either disc up the stubble or broadcast directly into the beans if anything is left by then. For this area I've got a couple bags of the Eagle Seed Broadside mix, which came in the mail today. I sprayed the other half of the field this past weekend that was just a variety of weeds and grasses. Toward the end of September I hope to broadcast cereal rye, crimson clover, and rape into this section. Finally, I've cleared out some near my ladder stand where I hope to plant clover, etc. in the shaded area just off the plot. Perhaps deer will be more comfortable here before heading out the open plot. In a perfect world, I hope the plot will have one or two things at a time that the deer prefer. Or, if one thing doesn't do well in the soil conditions, perhaps something else will. No idea how they'll respond to turnips/radishes, but only one way to find out.

I do believe I'd have to leave those beans standing and taped until about October 12. Then I'd be in a tree within about 20 yards of them come Oct. 15.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

I have a stand of imperial whitetail clover that I will overseed to fill in the gaps. Then I'm going to plant WMS alabama blend on the remaining 2 acres. On my small bow plot I'm going to add Austrian winter peas to the established clover patch already there.

I am trying to figure out a way to remotely take down one side of the fence a few days before opening day. Hate to do 4 hours of driving for something that will take 20 seconds to do.

first ,,, i never buy any thing with a deer on the bag .
i plant feed oats/wheat , crimson clover and winter peas . that's it . This is the only thing I'm buying that's pre-mixed and sold with all the fancy labeling. If it is supported by someone with a PhD in deer (Grant Woods), I'll give it a try. I get what you're saying though.

Feed oats, maybe mix in a little AWP and clover from a store on hwy 225. We do it cheap, but we get the soil right. Deer love it, so that's the way it will be.

Same thing I planted last year and nearly the same thing I've planted every year for 20 years....
1 bag of wheat 1 bag of Rye 1 bag of Buck Forage Oats 1 pound Rape
per acre.
I use to plant feed Oats but I have done some informal testing with BFO's and deer browse them more heavily, plus they don't winter kill or yellow during real cold weather.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
