I did my hunters safety class in California as that is where I am originally from.
A CA hunters safety # would be be valid here correct? I have an Alabama drivers license so that secures me the resident price right?
Pay my $26.20 and I'm out in the field?

This is my first time buying a hunting license pardon the newb question.

Not sure about that. If they let you buy the license, I would think it'll work. When they check your license, they're not going to check your hunter's safety ID#, they just want to know the license itself is valid.

I would always call Montgomery on stuff like this. They will be the folks deciding whether or not to write you a ticket.

You don't have to have a Hunter's Safey Card from each State that you hunt.

Alabama accepts hunter's education courses from other states, but like someone said, call Montgomery to make sure Cali is one of them. You should be OK though.

Just got off the phone with Montgomery. I am good to go.
California actually has a very active gun community.

Outdoor Alabama website

Alabama’s hunter education program helps keep hunting safe and enjoyable. The program covers the skills, regulations and responsibilities of hunting, and wildlife conservation that help to secure our hunting heritage. If you were born on or after August 1, 1977, you must complete an approved hunter education program before being eligible to hunt (see exceptions below)* Alabama has two hunter education options: a traditional course with a written test or an Internet course. Don't wait, start today!

*Now there is a new opportunity for obtaining your hunter education certification - an all online option. The online courses feature the best hunting safety videos available, along with interactive learning excercises and games, and comprehensive hunter education content to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a safe and responsible hunter. The internet course providers do charge a fee for the online option.

I think that a hunter safety ID is universal. I have not had any issues using mine. Go to Illinois every year and went to Colorado last year. Colorado was adamant that I have the ID# when I purchased my license.

Montana required that I put my Hunter ID in before applying for a tag online.

Said all that to say that your California Hunter safety ID is most likely universal and can be used in any state that requires it.

You already got the answer to your question but this is a good time to remind folks that just because you are old enough to be exempt from the Hunter Ed requirement in Alabama doesn't mean you will be exempt from it in other states. I had to get mine here in Alabama so that I could purchase a license in states like Missouri and Texas.

Can you explain the "bullet button" on CA legal ARs? If I understand correctly you have to have a tool to change 10 round max magazines?

Yep, I'm exempt but still took it in order to hunt out west. They don't exempt.
