If I was in charge of a police dept, I would mandate that 2 officers be with each other at all times while serving and protecting. If they notice something suspicious they have the go-ahead to take all actions they need to remain "safe".

It'll take more killing to stop the killing. That's how these things work.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

It's almost as if someone is trying to make it so dangerous to be a cop that nobody would want to be one. Then it would take a national police force to step in.

Oh wait........

Too much tin foil.....

It is sad for the family. I feel this anti cop rhetoric is inflaming this crap and is really irresponsible of both the media and politicians.

People walking around chanting for violence?? frying cops like bacon?

We are now in the freakin "twilight zone"!

And what bothers me is no one runs to defend these cops!

If I saw some Pieces of chit attacking one of our law officers I would definitely defend that law officer like he was one of my dang family!

Ill be danged if I would not.

Because I know he would risk his life to defend me...and he deserves the same!

This shucks is getting out of hand!

It's getting very scary now. My wife actually asked me to look for another side job and quit, but I told her these pieces of chit people aren't going to run me out. I just try not to put myself in a position to give them the upper hand and I am always watching my back. The bad part about my area is I am the only deputy and the nearest any backup is at least 30 mins away. 8 officers killed in the last 11 days is not acceptable. Something needs to change.

I patrol 650 sq miles by myself. Not in a car by myself, literally by myself. I'm the only deputy on duty from 7p-7a. If I need back up I have to rely on the city or call someone. Back up is usually 20-30 min away. I have a rookie in training right now and he's with me until 1 am. Even though it's a rookie I feel better when he's with me. Sometimes it sucks being all alone, but it will

You got that right. If the cop killing doesn't stop it's going to change the way police department operate. There won't be any more patrolling alone. There will either be two people per car or no patrolling.

I also patrol from 4:30pm to 4:30am by myself. My closest backup depends on where the deputies are and if they are in Waterloo it takes them 35 to 40 minutes running code to get to me on the other end of the county. Luckily ive had Troopers show up out of Limestone County to back me up in a few tight situations.

I've always thought that was bs. Nighttime seems to be the dangerous time. I know their was deputy that quit after a near disaster because he was the only one on duty. But during the day they 5 on duty.

I can't imagine to many departments hiring more officers. They don't pay the ones they have enough. I'm not sure if that's because the money isn't there, or they just don't do it.
It just confuses the hell out of me why a guy that can run with a football makes millions and a guy protecting us and our families make so little (this goes for military also). Most LEO's I know have to pick up part time work to stay ahead.
It's bull $h!t. Plain and Simple.
