It's been a month and we've had three feeders out and not one pic of deer eating the corn. Got pics of deer in the field eating sunn hemp outside of the feeder range. They are just walking right past it. Anybody else having this happen?

Throw a trophy rock in there and save the corn for now. Sounds like they have lots of groceries they prefer right now....

Take it out of the feeder and put it on the ground and I bet they'll come eat it.

Some places deer don't like the feeders... They will go around them and not get under or near them at all for along time...

sometimes deer prefer other things than corn, specially right now when there are a lot of groceries in the woods.

Deer can naturally tell which plants are higher in protein and other nutrients. They will eat their preferred food sources first.

This time of year, Clorox is where it's at.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Yes I see this often in the summer. Like everyone else has said not the preferred food source at the moment.

Are you kidding or serious?? We either plant one or the other and not both to compare. But last year my dad had 1 field they wouldn't touch. The deer pop.(of course, they are there, I just don't see them rolleyes) is really low but plenty of coons. He would have had corn on the stalk in April if he hadn't cut it in March.

central ala,
Thought you were but can't figure why nothing would eat that corn. Never will know I guess.

Lots of truth here.

1) is a bad time of year to get pics of deer eating corn.

2) the suggestion of getting it out of the feeder and throwing it on ground is good advice as well.

In my experience, mature deer prefer to eat corn strewn on the ground over eating corn that is in a feeder. ***unless the feeder has been there all of the deer's life. In that case, they usually aren't bothered by them.

We have never put feeders out in the summer so this was a surprise to me. I did get some pics early on when I slung it on the ground so maybe that's the next move. In the past when I have put corn out on the ground in the woods, I would have a mature buck show up within a day or two and never to return. This is why I usually don't bother with it during the season.

What about protein pellets? Has anyone seen any action on this in the summer?

Try rice bran, it has high protein and a high fat content and its cheap.

Your're not the only one. I put out 3 feeders at mineral sights this summer. I can hardly get a pic of a deer period at them. We normally struggle getting pics during the summer but not like this. I sure hope thats the reason.

I wonder if the deer are eating more native browse this time of the year verses corn and protein due to the moisture content. I haven't had to fill my feeders as often since we've been having this 95 degree weather. I've been feeding protein pellets since hunting season and will start mixing 50/50 corn and protein sometime in september. I get around 1000 pics every 2 weeks at 4 feeding stations. Sometimes have 3 bucks at the feeder spouts at the same time
