Are the "A2" style front sights (the kinda triangular front sight) removable on A/R rifles or are they permanently fixed to the barrel?
I've been looking at some used ones but prefer flip up front/rear sights so I'm wondering if it could be removed from a typical rifle and replaced with the small front picatinny rail?

First make sure you purchase a low pro gas block, there are two pins holding the front sight post on, support the barrel before driving the pins out to limit barrel shock. Knock the rivet inside the sling loop out (drive it out in the direction opposite of the ejection port side). Then you can knock the remaining two taper pins out, you have to knock them out FROM LEFT TO RIGHT (if you are looking down barrel shouldering weapon). You gotta knock the piss out of most of the m&ps but they will come out. Then knock out tiny gas tube retention pin. Secure barrel in vice using upper receiver block and twist back and forth on front site and work it down the end of the barrel. The more rounds thru the weapon usually the more difficult it is to get off. Good luck
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

I think the question was answered but the aperture sight is nothing more than a gas block. It is part of the gas system. They can be removed and they can be replaced. Although I have never attempted it myself I have had it done by GunDoc. First 2 AR's I ever had the aperture sight on front and I hated it. Nothing but flattops for me from here on out.

Those of you that are "in the know"...is $600 a decent price for an almost-new M&P 15 or is that a little high?
Looks like new they are $650-700.

If you want a flat top optics ready gun you can get new ones cheaper than that. You should be able to find a DPMS for around 549 new.

Grabagun usually has $5 shipping and has s&w m&p15 and bushmasters patrolman for 549 sometimes. Also check slickguns.com for anything outdoor, gun, knife related they're an up to minute portal for companies. I check it regularly and shouldn't cause of the deals you can find on there. Once you're on slickguns it's broke down into categories on the top, just click your poison and surf the site

Looks like new they are $650-700. I've been "living and breathing" AR's for the past 2-3 weeks. It's all sort of running together but I think NO is the answer to your question. I'm almost positive I've seen new M&P's for less than $600, but having an AR without a paper trail would be nice and that's what you've have with the used one. There is a guy close to Clanton that several people on here have recommended to build one and his "utility" AR is less than $600.

As FurFlyin said, Cole Blackmon outside of Clanton builds a service rifle for $580 which is a much better gun than the M&P. if you come to the Lay Lake get together you can shoot mine and the comp gun he built me. I'd give him a call well before I bought an Map What did he do to your comp gun? Gomer: you can change the gas block or get a free float tube. I have the same gun and had to do the same thing
