You want an excellent value in a great gun; look for a used Beretta 303. Have seen them for less than $500. I have one of the Ducks Unlimited versions; my favorite dove field gun.

Yep. A Beretta 20 is mighty, mighty hard to beat. The only thing I would choose over one would be a Benelli M2 (maybe), but they are lots more money than a nice, used Beretta. I'm a big, big fan of the 303's and 390's.

I've owned a Montefeltro, 2 M2's,and a M1 all 20ga. Out of all those Benelli's I liked the Montefeltro best. The only knock I have against the Benelli 20's are that they feel very whippy when swinging them. A lot of that is just personal feel though and up to each individual as to what they like in a bird gun. Myself I like something that balances different than how the Benelli 20ga's balance and swing. Here's a pic of the 20ga's that I finally settled on and I'd recommend any of them over the Benelli's I listed. But of course that's all personal preference bc I know Benelli makes an awesome shotgun and I still own an original SBE that'll never leave unless my boy takes it when he gets older. In order Beretta 3901 20ga, Winchester SX3 20ga, Browning Auto 5 Mag Twenty, Browning Gold 20

Love the feel of the Montefeltro, $ just a little too much for me. I'm hoping to find a good 20 ga. to hunt dove with.

Daniel I'm real close to buying a CZ auto 20 from Buds guns in a youth model. I haven't owned one,but I can't afford the to spend the big money on a Benelli etc.

They're made in Turkey. Like a Yugo compared to a Cadillac when compared to a nice, used Italian made Beretta or Franchi. Both of which wouldn't be much more AT ALL compared to what that CZ would cost new. I just recently sold YEKRUT a Franchi Affinity compact for $550 and I have bought several 20 gauge Berettas (303's and 390's) for right around the same price via gunbroker and gunsamerica. Don't settle fellas...buy top quality and you'll never regret it!

X2!!!!
An extra hundred or two isn't really very much over the long run. I can buy quality and it will be worth even more than I paid in 10 years or I can buy junk that will be worth nearly nothing in 10 years.

^^^ yup what they said. Buy once cry once. Or settle and you'll think of the gun you wished you'd bought every time you pick up that other gun. I've been there before and won't let it happen again

Daniel when we come I'm bringing my son and his .20 Remington 1100LT and it has a youth stock on it. She's welcome to try it while we're there. I don't plan to sell it, but you could at least see if she likes it and look for another like it.

Bought my wife a Tristar youth 20ga from Academy. It's a gas operated gun made in Turkey (same gun as Weatherby SA-08). It has performed flawless with a variety of all different loads. I bought it on sale for less than $300 and figured I've pissed away more on less if it turned out to be junk.

I may have gotten the only good one out there but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Especially for a woman or child that might shoot it 100 or so times a year.

It also throws an awesome pattern with Fed #7 HW. The dang gun has a better trigger than my SBE. The chokes also interchange with Benelli.

You're only as good as your worst shot-

I would humbly suggest and caution that if you decide to buy a Turkish auto, that you buy the Weatherby. To my knowledge, Weatherby is the only company that is importing parts for those guns (they're all made in the same factory in Turkey off of a Beretta gas design) and standing behind them warranty wise 100%. I wouldn't trust Mossberg International, Tristar, or any of the others to do the same. I know for a fact that Mossberg International will just tell you tough chit if their Turkish auto tears up. That, to me, is totally unacceptable if repair is required.
