I have been out of bow hunting for about 15 years and I am thinking about easing back into it. I know just about any bows on the market will be a lot better than anything I had had in the past.

I'd like to stay around $500-600 for the complete setup. I have looked at he mission line some.

What are your suggestions?

Your gonna be hard pressed to find a new bow and set it up on that budget. I'd looked for a used setup on archerytalk.

He's right. I went the used route and it took $730. There are cheaper routes but you get the idea ...

Here's what I did :

- 2004 Pearson Dagger Bow / 28" at 63# $125 (aldeer classifieds)
- Used HHA optimizer #OL-5519 single pin sight $75 (ebay)
- New 12 Beaman arrows cut for my bow $140 (local)
- New 6 Rage Extreme broadheads $90 (local)
- New 6 Rage Extreme practice heads $60 (local)
- New QAD rest $60 (local)
- New Tru Glo 4 arrow quiver detachable with extra attachment for my stand $100 (local)
- New Dampers etc ... $10 (local)
- Used TRU Ball Max Pro release $70 (eBay)

Total : $730

If you will watch archery talk, their Facebook page, and craigslist, you can do it. I bought a heli-m last year that was ready to hunt, had case and arrows for less than $500. I saw an elite on archery talk just the other day for $650 loaded.

Craigslist is your friend

Some pretty good deals on ArcheryTalk. Just keep watching it steadily for a few weeks and a good deal will come by.

You used to could get a pse brute x set up for around in that price range. Don't think they make anymore but dicks or someone like that may still have one. They were ok bows, so just fine for someone just getting back into it.

they're pretty good bows for the money. I almost bought one, but I went with a pse hammer instead. It's the newest version of the pse evo 7.
