Got two Louisiana fishing trips planned. Going to Cocadrie in two weeks with a guy who guides part time down there so I'm covered there.

Going to Delacroix the last weekend of July, never fished there before and will be winging it. Anyone have any advice for the area?

You wont need any advice, just take sunblock, stay hydrated and be prepared to be wore out. You probably wont ever want to see another redfish or speckled trout for a looooong time after fishing there. grin

Delacroix is a maze of channels. I've fished there a dozen times and my guide got turned around several times. LOL Great fishing.

I have no doubt I will get completely lost, I only hope it's with a full cooler of fish smile was thinking that it would be hot enough I needed to run to the edge of Breton sound. Anyone know how far it is down the canal?

Yes, you need to go out to the sound. 90% of the trout are outside. The rest of them can be found in the deep turns of the bayou if its too windy to get outside. Reds (eating size) will be in the marsh everywhere. Hit the rigs and islands if you can get out. About a 35 mile run.

Who are you fishing with in Cocodrie? Spent many a good time down there and know it well. I miss that place.

My brother in law is from Louisiana, we are staying with a friend of his who is a part time guide down there. Did that trip a few years ago and caught over 500 fish in two days, over 200 keepers

Cooler of fish? You'll want cooler of beer you get lost down there.

we turned up the wrong canal one time down there and ended up 20feet up on a mud bank. Damn near killed us moving that 20 foot boat back to deeper water.

Lost or not, at the end of the day the fish cooler may be full but the other cooler will definitely be empty smile

We used to put in at "the end of the world" launch and fish the canals mostly.
