Therein lies your other problem with that kind of tract. If I knew of something like that, it would likely belong to a friend or aquaintance of mine. I'd know them and they'd know me but I don't know YOU. If you were a long time poster here and I had some kind of history to gauge your ethics, behavior, etc by that might be different.
In light of that I would (and I think most would agree) that they'd likely be worried to recommend someone else lease you something since they don't know you.
I don't say all this to be a ********. I just see these types of posts all the time and always wonder at the "waiting on my lottery numbers to hit" viewpoint it seems to indicate.
The places I've hunted I found. Either internet searches or through personal and business contacts I've spent 20+ years accumulating. I have worked my *** off finding some of them. I use the results of that diligence FOR ME, or selected friends, not random unknown curious strangers on the Internet. Good luck. You'll need it.

Hey I'm interested in hunting on that 80 acres between Montgomery and B'ham. How do I get on that piece of land?

I understand your viewpoint, however you would be wrong in my case. I already have 1500 acres to hunt in Henry County. The other 3 gentlemen and I that hunt it have been managing the land for 8 years now, and our results are impressive. We took property that was over-run with does, and that had been hunted with the "if it's brown it's down" philosophy for decades, and turned it into a fantastic piece of hunting property. The previous 20 years or so had yielded only 1 deer in excess of 120". Since we started managing it, we have taken 8 deer over 130", with 3 of them going over 140". No bad for a property only 30 minutes from Florida.
About now you are probably asking why I would be looking for another piece of property if my existing hunting land is so good. Well, I will tell you. The rut on our property happens around Christmas, and is usually wound down by the first week of January. The last 3 weeks is usually pretty slow. In contrast, most of the surrounding area has a late January early Feb rut. I figured that I am in a somewhat unique position to live in an area that has 2 distinct ruts, and that if I could find another small property in the January rut area, that I could spend the last few weeks in the season hunting another rut, thus increasing my odds to kill a big one. Nothing sinister, no need for me to hit the lottery. If I can't find anything this year, no big deal, I will just continue to work on it until I do find something.
As far as you questioning the reasoning behind asking a bunch of total strangers for hunting land, I can totally understand, however I look at it like this: it costs me nothing but a few minutes of time to post on the forum and ask. If I get no response, I have lost nothing. If I do happen to get a response, I may end up with something very valuable to me. Sounds like reasonable odds to me: nothing to loose and everything to gain. I won't even be out the $1 for a lottery ticket!
For the gentleman asking about the 80 acres between Montgomery and Bham, I mentioned last week to my co-worker that he could probably lease out that property fairly easily, and he said he had never really considered it before, but would think about it. I will ask him again this week, and if he decides to go that route, will be happy to forward his contact info to you.

20 something years ago up until about 10 or 12 years ago (forgive me if my years aren't exactly correct), Alabama only had a few weekends that you could legally kill does. They then transitioned to a 2-week long doe season before finally opening it up to a season-long doe season. Even after the doe season was "liberalized", many hunters still resisted shooting very many does, preferring instead to shoot every year-old buck that wandered by. That is what I meant by "if it's brown, it's down". The first year we started the management program, the biologist issued us 50-plus doe tags to thin them out. The next year we got 30-something, and since then, we have managed to take our goal of does every year without the tags, which is usually in the 25 range.
We do some year-round feeding, usually planting a mixture of soy beans and cow peas. About 1/3 of the land is farm land, so a good portion of it is planted in peanuts every year by the local farmers. We do not do any supplemental feeding (protein pellets or corn), although I do pour corn out in front of the deer cameras during July and August while we are taking our summer time pics.
Of course, we plant oats and wheat for the winter, and last year started mixing in some clover to help with the early Spring period.

try charles patterson of charles patterson trucking. Got several lease's around here mostly farm land. Kinda high, but I have seen some of the leas's go down in price closer to hunting season if they didnt get leased. Usually range from 50 -100's of acres. Maybe he'll have something that'll work for ya. If he does dont forget that hun-done

Yea, he's kinda strange, every now and then he's got a good one for lease. Just hard to deal with. You checked with the timber companies around here. Rayonere (rebelman)has some that come up for grabs. Plat-Haney probably owns more land in coffee county than anyone else.

Anybody? Still haven't found anything. Looking for small parcel, could be 30-40 acres or up to a few hundred. I know it's a little bigger than your looking for but you might want to checkout AFOA. They got a lease in Barbour county a little over 1,000 acres @ $15 acre but you also get the use of a cabin and shed. Sounds like a pretty nice setup for someone.

Sorry you feel that way Brian, and wasted both our time. But it has already been leased. We jumped 2 deer on the drive through this morning. But just to be clear,you were her for 3 hrs Brian, after you locked your keys in your vehicle. Glad your attempts to smash out your window were in vein, and that my friend was able to give you a good price on opening your door. OH, and the price was also 10 per acre, and the insurance was 100.00. Not 11. Which was our cost in that land. I hope you find what you are looking for... All the best .... UUGH Uhhoh

Wasn't there to waste anybody's time, how am I supposed to know what the land potential is before I go check it out? And it's not about anybody's feelings, just stating the facts. I was there for 2 hours and 20 minutes, of which we spent about 1 hour looking over the property and the the other 1:20 I spent trying to get my keys out of the truck which I (quite stupidly) locked in there. I thanked you several times yesterday for arranging for your friend to help me retrieve my keys, and I thank you again for that, but none of that has anything to do with the facts. I saw one set of tracks on the road, no others. And $1150 for 105 acres comes to $10.95 an acre, rounding that to $11 doesn't really seem like a stretch to me. If you want to divide out the cost between land and insurance, I guess you can do that. Don't take it personally, just wasn't what I was looking for, and I'm glad you found someone to lease it.
