Long story short, we did some work on our 4 row planter that apparently made it operate like it was supposed to, to begin with. That being said we put down 5 bags on approximately 9 acres. Have been told 36000 seeds per acre equates to 1 bag for every 2.2 acres and that is about as heavy as you should go. We obviously went heavier. Any idea what we should expect?

So you did one bag per 1.8 acres. Not a huge difference. I think you should have an excellent crop with rain and weed control.

I planted mine about 26,000. I usually plant 3 acres with a bag.

It'll make very small ears planted that thick and requires more nitrogen and water. Roots are jam packed together at that population so any dry spell will be tough on the plant. We plant 28,500 on dryland and max 36,000 on irrigated ground. Put 340 units of N on pops that high but of course all this is high input row crop.
