Does anybody have any experience with almond trees?

I think I'm going to set 2-3 out in the yard. My wife likes the blooms and I LOVE almonds.

I think I'm going to try these. Thoughts?

I didn't know that almonds would grow in our area. They say these will.
Let us know how they do. Good luck.

I know they grow great in California when they got rain. Never heard of growing them here.

Doesn't it take 30 gallons of water to produce one nut, (or some other crazy amount)?

It says zones 5-9. I believe I'm in zone 7a. Still haven't made up my mind, but I'm leaning toward getting them.

I'd probably need to wait till this fall, right?

That sounds like propaganda. Especially since an Almond tree may produce several hundred pounds in a place that never gets more than a foot of rain per year.

Seems like Aldeer is becoming the Al Beekeeper sanctuary.

Only the garden and farm section. I had no idea there were as many beeks on aldeer as there are. I was just relaying a fact about almonds.

Me either, and I am fine with that. Maybe Aldeer should become an honorary member of the beekeeper society laugh

I'm just trying to learn enough to be able to eat honey on my biscuits and then barter the excess honey in exchange for Classified Ad success. But, I guess I would have to sell something occasionally for that to happen. Warning: This dadgum bee stuff can get addicting.

That's how I wound with enough stuff for 30 hives and 30 nucs.

I just asked the same question to a guy I work with that has one. His is only 2 years old but is growing good and he expects it to bear next year. I'm a good bit South of you but I will be ordering a couple this fall.

The pollinator company left last week with two big truck loads of bees enroute to Texas for some almond groves out there. Two weeks ago they carried a bunch of them to the cranberry bogs in Maine.
