Planted RR soybeans and corn Saturday before last. About an acre of each. Problem is that there is a debate about when to spray them. I say about two weeks after they start coming up and one other member says after one week but still a third member says three to four weeks. We are all just guessing and not real sure. So, to settle the debate, I decided to ask the experts. And that gentlemen is why I am here. Please educate us.
What say you, when is the best time?

Spray your soybeans at the 2-4 leaf stage. No clue on corn, I would assume the same time but just a guess
Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers.......... Si Robertson

Don't think anyone can give you a certain number of weeks - it depends on soil moisture , seed bank , and other things. I always wait until I think the weeds are on the verge of competing with the corn, then spray it. That usually is about 3 weeks if it's been raining, but could be 2-5. If you spray too soon, the weeds can get pretty bad before the corn matures. Wait too long, and the weeds can stunt the corn. If it's your first time, err on the side of too soon. You can always spray it again. It doesn't really matter. With just one acre the deer are gonna clean out the field as soon as it gets hard.

Depends on the growing rate of grasses and weeds. If not growing to fast wait till beans are about to canopy over. If grasses are getting big spray now a d come back with a lite dose at canopy.

Thanks guys. I'll try to explain what I've got a little better. This is two established green fields that we have only been planting in the fall. Been using some version of "Buck Blend" for the last 15 year. Each field is approximately one acre on a TVA power line. On one side is a tree line and a recent clear cut on the other. Each has a shooting house on the tree line side.
So this year we decided to do something a little different. We bush hogged then turned it and let it set for a couple of weeks then we disc'ed the daylights out of it and planted half in corn on the clear cut side and soybean on the tree line side.
We fully expect the deer to hit the beans so hard that it will look like it's been bush hogged again and definitely not expecting it to make a bean. Then come fall when we plant our other fields, we will replace the beans with the same "Buck Blend" and leaving the corn for cover.
One of the club members did this about five or six years ago, but unfortunately none of the current members were involved when this was done and the one who did this has pasted on. So needless to say most of his knowledge went with him. He did teach me what I need to know about green fields and I can make some pretty ones that the deer love. I regret not spending more time with him so he could teach me more. I miss him and I morn the passing of my teacher and my friend.
So for now I will just keep an eye on it and when the weeds and grass start getting thick, we will spray then. I knew I could count on you guy's.
As an after thought, If you have a Mentor you need to learn all you can from them and on the same note if you are a Mentor, teach them all you can. The future of our hunting heritage is in our hands.
Of all the things I've ever lost, I think I miss my mind the most.

I wait until the weeds are about to over whelm my crop. Then I hit it as hard as I can. This is what I'm going to try this year! I hope the weeds and grass will prevent over grazing.

Never ever let weeds get to point they're about to overwhelm a crop. Damage is already done at that point by weeds.
