Years ago back in the 70's my brother, my dad, myself and some friends all went on a fishing and camping trip up on Smith Lake and we stayed in a camping area. Driving up to it we see a sign with "KKK" on it. As we get closer we can read the whole sign: Kullman Kamper Klub True story!

Jasper is a s-hole. Nothing to do there worth noting. If you like fishing you can go wet a line in Walker Co Lake.... seriously that's all there is to do in Jasper, Alabama.
You should just go to Birmingham. Almost equal distance and far better dining and things to do.

car lots. lots of car lots & pawn shops....
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

I know yall are just getting your kicks making fun of Jasper and Walker County. Not true on my part. Jasper is a great place to live been here my whole life its home people work hard here just like they do in other parts of the State. Truth. Jasper is a great place to live... outside of the city limits that is. Lots of rural farms and lakes out that way and a slow country life. That's how I like it. The Industrial Blvd is building up Cracker Barrel came in a few months ago , new Motels are going up and yes we do have car dealerships and restaurants that arent to shabby i support them daily , the Lake is Beautiful some of the prettiest houses you will ever lay eyes on and yes the fishing is really good so Jasper aint all bad .
The question was "What is there to do in Jasper?". The answer is either 1.) Nothing, or 2) Fishing. Nobody goes to the Industrial Blvd, Cracker Barrel, or a car dealership for fun. If he's looking for entertainment he can go to Walker Co Lake and fish, and that's about it. I don't have a thing against Jasper. There just isn't anything to do there.

Jays outdoors is ok, and there is a mall for your wife. Jasper is a fine little town out in the middle of nowhere.

Does Jasper still have Mule Days? They have painted mules all over town. Actually Jasper is a good friendly town. Just a bunch of good old miners and their families. I go over there to Court every once in a while and have always had good experiences. There was a good old fashioned hard wear store around the northern city limits, a couple of good gun and archery stores, and some tackle shops out toward Smith Lake. The Bug Tussle has been rebuilt and is a good place for a steak. There is a good fly fishing shop over by the Smith Lake dam. There used to be a place called Loony's Tavern or something like that. I would look on the Jasper Walker County web site rather than listen to these yahoos on here who don't want anyone to ever go anywhere ever.

Go to Smith Lake. Call somebody who knows what the heck is going on to take you fishing. Go back to Jasper and eat some Mexican supper and go home. As far as the fishing goes, try something new and go trout fishing below the dam. Try this link... http://www.riversideflyshop.com

Just north of Jasper up towards Double Springs your get into the National Forest and the Sipsey Wilderness area. It's one of the most beautiful places in the is State IMHO!
