I want to buy a good one. Could I get 10 years out of a stihl or Husqvarna? I don't have alot of weed eating to do. I just want one that will start and run if taking care of. Thanks.

I have an Echo weedeater and blade edger and backpack blower. I only had trouble when I used to use regular gas in them. Each spring I would have to disassemble the carb and spray it down with brake cleaner to remove the lacquer film. (easy to do, takes about 10 minutes).

A store down the street started selling Ethanol free gas and that is all I have used for 4-5 years. I have no problems. I do at the end of season pour out whatever gas is in tank and run it until it quits and put it away. I will start the next spring with new fresh clean gas. No problems ever...

Same for me, Echo is good equipment. I remember as a kid in the early 70's my dad bought a small Echo chainsaw, first time I heard of that brand.

If you want it to last don't put ethanol gas in it.I have 2 ryobi's that are 19 years old and I never use ethanol in them.I also use quick silver 2 cycle oil.

I've got a pretty powerful stihl that I've been really satisfied with. patches of Johnson grass don't stand a chance around my farm with that thing. Put one of those steel blades on it and it's a handheld Bush hog. Fs55 gets my vote for homeowner use. Use premium fuel.
