Yes, the feed will work. There was a thread a while back about black oil sunflowers and lots of folks had good results planting the feed variety. Your germination may be slightly lower. The only difference in feed and seed is that the seed has been inspected a little more closely, therefore it's certified to ensure the best germination.

I planted a 50# bag of birdseed black oil sunflower one year and I bet they all came up.
