Good people fail all the time. I'm not saying Taylor was a "good guy" because I don't know him. From my window seat the guy is a scum bag that can't keep his hands off of women in a violent way.

Look..... Saban gave the kid a chance and it backfired on him. It's no different than Nick Marshall or Cam Newton getting a second chance. If you will remember, the Marshall thing came really close to blowing up in Malzahns face. Me personally.... due to the egregiousness of his original offense I would have taken a pass on him, but I'm sure the kid had a good sob story for the coaches and told them what they wanted to hear. Some of them make the most of their opportunities and some don't. Taylor didn't.

What did you want him to say?

That he is a peckerhead and needs to be in jail for a while? Too bad they would get stoned for telling the media their real opinion. If I had to bet that's what his real thoughts are. I deal with domestic abusers every time. It's usually not a one time thing. It's sort of like an addiction. Once they start they don't have he power to stop. The best thing for them is to sit their but in jail, because eventually they will hurt someone bad. Taylor's first offense was very serious. I'm not sure the details of this case, but surely to God folks can see the pattern here. I don't care who in the world he plays for, IMO he needs to be in jail and the rest is between him and the Lord. I don't believe that part will be pleasant for him.

Oh I agree with you. I see prison being a prominent part of that dudes life. I was just responding to the two Auburn fans at the top of the post who were critiquing what the man said. He said about all he could say.

I agree that behind closed doors his opionion is much different.

You are playing right into what Finebaum wants. If FB never would have went on ESPN and started bashing Saban the Auburn fans wouldn't be on the offensive about it and Bama fans wouldn't be on the defensive. All this equals is more calls into the show, more people watching, more money for all of them. Kid got a second chance and F***** up. Saban axed him. I honestly don't see the big deal concerning Saban's response.

Pisses me off that the media gurus are enjoying their "told you so" moment on this story. The real problem is Taylor and his obvious lack of self control. Not Saban.

This guy has had chances to play at two quality D1 schools and has screwed them both. He's lucky that he was even given a chance to play anywhere. He was on a short leash to begin with with agreed to guidelines. He never took the field or played one down for Bama so how is the school to blame in all of this?

Charged is not convicted. You will know the outcome soon enough of the prior charges. If he was convicted he wasn't going to be playing anyway more than likely.

So Saban took a risk and it did not pan out. What if it did? This same media would have been praising Saban for the job that he did in helping this kid turn things around. Talk about both sides of the same mouth.

Bottom line is this kid has a serious problem that now will more than likely follow him into the prison system at some point. Where was the behavior learned is a question that needs to be asked? Unfortunately, this guy has $1000 talent sitting under a $1 head.

Pretty sure Gus Malzahn called Jakell Mitchell, a guy who died as a participant in a gang bang gunfight at Auburn, "an outstanding person".

I do not remember burbank and Rebelman being upset over Malzahn's comments, though.

I found Malzahn's comments regarding Mitchell to be REASONABLE given the circumstances....just as I find Saban's comments to be REASONABLE given Taylor's circumstances.

I'm glad the guy is gone from the program.

Apples and oranges. At the time of Mitchell's death it was thought that he was gunned down in the street and was an innocent victim. That was not the case of course.

Thought by who? The Auburn PD surely knew Mitchell had been an active participant...maybe to the point of starting it by firing the first shot. Just another perfect example of the complicit Auburn PD in action. At what point was the PD going to inform the media of Mitchell's involvement? Let me ask...do they hide everything from Gus too, or just privately let him know what really goes on? I would imagine it's the latter, but maybe they figure the less he knows, the better. It's a well-oiled machine down there, either way.

Uh. It's pretty common for police departments to withhold information from the media pertaining to an active investigation.

I don't want to get in the middle of this but you do realize things are kept on the hush hush in T town , too, right? I have no idea if it's still the case there but Rolando was regularly detained without it getting out to the general public. It's not right but I imagine FSU isn't the only college town that sweeps things under the rug, although they are definitely one of the worst.

It was a killing, not a girlfriend beating. The two are nowhere remotely similar.

Would Jonathan Taylor have even been arrested if he was at AU and did the same thing? How about at FSU?

When is the last time an Auburn player got arrested for a DUI in Auburn that was reported to the media? For that matter, when was the last time an Auburn player was arrested in Auburn? Even the most militant Auburn fan has have questions in the back of his mind about why Auburn players have to leave Auburn to actually get in trouble.

Hint: It's not because they're angels while in Auburn, then turn into hellions when they leave the city limits.

Deflect, deflect, deflect.

The real question is why is Saban taking unnecessary risks?

He didnt need Taylor on the D line. It seems like something a coach in panic would do. As well as he has recruited it seems he could afford to be more selective.

You wait and see, pressure makes stuff pop. This is just the start of it....

You won't, and haven't seen me defend Saban's decision to take Taylor...so, I'm not sure what you think I'm deflecting.

The point is, what did you expect Saban to say...that Taylor's a woman beating POS? He wasn't going to say that, no more than Gus would now say that Mitchell was a gang banging POS.
