A grinder will cut anything. However Cain steel in Tuscaloosa sells chain that 6' bolt cutters will only slightly dent.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

A grade 70 chain (it will be gold like in color) in 3/8ths inch size is very tough, I don't think I could cut it with my 3 foot bolt cutters. You can also get grade 80, 90, 100 and 120 grade, but it will get expensive. I knew a guy that had a problem with some guys tearing his gate up, so he got some well casing pipe, a bunch of concrete and made one of those locks up in the hole of the pipe that you can't get a bolt cutter on. Next time he went out there the gate was there and they had broke a couple of toothpicks off in his lock and it wouldn't work at all. He had to get his torch out there and cut his way in.

I have a battery operated side grinder, big lithium battery and a cut-off wheel that can be through a lock or chain in short order, stainless or otherwise.

The locations that I thought of would not have easy access to power for a corded grinder. Understand, but last weekend I cut a 1/2" cable off of a gate post with a cutoff wheel on a DeWalt cordless grinder. This took maybe 20 seconds. I feel your pain. We were having to have a workday, during Turkey season, because some vandals tore down 2 gates and tried to tear down another. We were trying to reset a post that had been partially pulled up. I'm building gates this evening instead of hunting.

Maybe spike strips past gates would be best. Or a pit with pungee sticks. I think for one place I have if I could at least get torch and bolt cutter proof for a door then that would help. What kind of locks are supposed to work best? I use the big 5 tumbler Masters with harden steel shackles.

Stainless steel is torch proof but I don't know if they make locks out of stainless. It would be hard to cut with bolt cutters also.

There is no way to KEEP thieves/trespassers/poachers out of your place. Believe me I have tried everything from beefed up gates/chains/locks to 6' ditches dug with a backhoe.
PROSECUTE every damn one of them, EVERYTIME. Talk to the Judge and the DA BEFORE it happens, then visit the DA again before court. Put up hidden cameras, paint the lines, put up lots of signs up high. Take pics of the signs in place and record where they are for court. Hammer poachers for Hunt w/o Permit AND trespassing. Be there at court and ask the judge for a high fine.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

For the building, is it a regular door or a garage type door that you're trying to lock? I know a guy that ran a piece of steel pipe through the studs in his wall for his deadbolt. When locked, the deadbolt would slide inside the steel pipe. Thieves would have to tear out about 6' of wall before they could break the door down.
