I'm cleaning out an old barn and have three 55 gal barrels of oil- at least that's what I think is in them. Burning is not an option cause the volunteer fire dept has nothin better to do but bust ppl for starting fires like that. Is old oil worth selling? It may be clean but probably 30-50 years old.

Who the heck would buy it?

I'd call around to an Express Oil Change and see if they'd take it. I think they get several cents per gallon to recycle it.

They ain't buying waste oil anymore. Some companies will come pick it up for free but some are now charging.

I would also leave off the part about "I think it is waste oil" when trying to get rid of it.

Lol that's what the oil company called it last week. I have a few hundred gallons of used hydraulic oil to get rid of. I use to get a credit for it towards new oil. Not no more.

Do they still frown on folks for dumping it in the river?

I actually saw a guy on a boat ramp once draining his from his inboard out the plug into the river. Had a hell of a mess

Unless they've quit recently I still get paid a little for used oil. Nowhere like it was before prices dropped.

If you're interested, I'll call and see if I still make enough to justify my guys time of pumping it into our waste oil container. If so, you can bring it to me.

Your right Fur. The market has dropped tremendously. I sell several thousand gallons a each month. Some vendors don't even want to waste their resources picking it up. Who is your waste oil vendor?

I would want to have it tested before I put it in my waste oil tank.
