Here's a good article showing the difference in a "conservative" by party/media standards and an ACTUAL FISCAL CONSERVATIVE.

yup. pretty simple how that works. They are terrified of cutting entitlements before an election so they will not. Glad to see Paul showed how that works.

I wholeheartedly agree with Rand but I also think Cruz realizes any cuts he supports right now will be used against him come election time. It's politics and it's a shame but if you don't somewhat play the game, you have no chance. I'll be watching Cruz carefully to make sure he isn't just another slick talking politician who is all fluff and no action , like Gowdy. But Rands stance on not requiring voter ID and his immigration policy are very troubling for me. I'm not saying I wouldn't vote for him but I want to see him clarify himself with a real statement on policy and not just a politically correct generic statement. Rand is playing the game as much as anyone but I think he is barking up the wrong tree trying to garner support in the black community. That just isn't going to happen until after an election and you show them conservative policies can help them more than a handout .

I'm probably wrong, but I think candidates would be surprised how well they would do if they ran on a platform of reforming entitlements. I just don't believe the majority of people receiving handouts would show up on election day if a minority wasn't on the ticket.

Values held are shaped by one's Worldview and this Worldview directs action.

Some questions to ask either directly or to yourself:
1. What is the real role of government?
2. What does being a good steward of tax resources really mean?
3. Is it true that the borrower is slave to the lender?
4. What spurs economic growth the most: higher taxes or lower taxes?
5. What are the role of entitlement programs: a temporary safety net or a comfortable hammock?

So many elected leaders, regardless of party affiliation, do not hold a real and actual conservative worldview on the role of government, spending, taxation, economics, and purpose for government mercy ministry (entitlements). So it is not surprising when they propose, support or vote for budget measures that DO NOT equate to getting the fiscal house in order.

A small limited government will only fund the necessary and basic functions of government. A small and limited government will get out of the way and let the free market business sector (sole proprietor up to huge corporations) and individuals fill the role of wealth engines, job creators and drivers of economics. A small and limited government will inherently understand that debt and deficits are national security issues and should be restricted at least or avoided at all costs at best. A small and limited government wants to only help set up economic policy that gives opportunity to individuals to be able to seek to make their business mark in the country. A small and limited government understand that any spending should be handled with care and be good stewards of the peoples tax money. A small and limited government that has its financial house in order has room to also be a compassionate government which can include mercy ministries in the form of safety net for those citizens in a bind but it is only temporary in scope and nature.

Sadly, far too many of our elected officials from local to national do not have the small and limited government worldview. And we can see the end results: Huge and growing debt and deficits, run away "mandatory" spending, run away "discretionary" spending, Entitlement programs that are now hammocks instead of safety nets. Where is the smallness? Where is the limited? Where is the good stewardship?

They have been vacated and replaced with greed, politics, power, and progressive movement corruption.

I wonder what could be accomplished if voting rights were suspended for as long as a citizen is accepting public assistance?
