Sorry guys I had one dead this Am early but his stupid ass tripped over a log at about 45 steps trotting in and it scared his buddy with him so bad all hell broke loose. It was thick in the swamp we were in or he'd never made it to that log. All we needed was 5 or so more steps. Damn my luck

Don't be sorry guys, it's still EARLY! I think we'll all happen up on one before long.
I haven't talked to anyone around my parts that says they are just wearing it out. Most people up this way are killing what I call "leftover scratch pile" turkeys. grin and that's their business! I don't have to kill one on opening day, so I refrain from the sit and wait 4 hour deal til it gets late in the year and I haven't scratched my itch as far as just shooting one. I'm just glad y'all are hearing turkeys and know that they are there. I've hardly accomplished that!

I'm so ready to get out of work today. Had all I can stand and went ahead and took off next Sat and Sun. Got 6 days to play

I called the pair of longbeards from yesterday back up this morning. They came up to 5 yards but I never could get a chance to draw my bow on em cause they were looking at me pretty hard. I'm at my parents place now for a little afternoon sit with the 870. Gonna hunt here the next three mornings.

I know the feeling, and I hunted Saturday! I'm going again in the morning, so maybe I can put us on the board. 257 may already have done it. I saw he posted from the Alabama river, so he may not have had service.
Coosa, I would've lost it and toted a shotgun by now! Lol! I don't think I could take it. Kudos to you!

Man I can't even begin to tell you how hard it is knowing that if I could just tote my 870 in there I probably would've killed 3 turkeys already.......But I'll have it with me tomorrow on our place in Coosa so maybe my luck will be the same up here as it has been in Montgomery the last couple days.

Damnit guys my run to S bama was a bust. Got back on ole log tripper Mon Am and had him and buddy with 2 hens hang up on an island at 70 yds and just wouldn't budge. Put on a fine show but I couldn't piss the hens off enough to fly the creek. This Am different farm on the lowndes/Dallas line 1 bird gobbled 2 times. It's tough down there right now.

I heard one turkey gobble one time. Made a full loop around him and never heard or saw him?? They just ain't ready yet. It'll happen soon, but I sure figured it would be today after a few good warm days.

So far haven't heard a thing. So slow right now.
I haven't been able to even bump anything while moving around, they just aren't out and about here.

Me and a buddy got on a pair that were gobbling good this morning. Set up about 80 yds from them on a road in some thinned pines. Heard them fly down and start drumming but instead of coming down the road they crossed it and skirted around us at about 75yds. Went straight to the real hen that was yelping on the hill. So I started calling to the hen and had her leading them back to us but they eventually turned back around and headed out.

I'm gonna try it in the morning. Rain or not. Going to a new place that I've never laid eyes on. Let's see how many things I can put against me! Lol!
Turkeys not gobbling, new place, rain, two people, etc. Sounds like a killin time to me!

Good luck! I'm going down to hunt a new spot, a 1000 acre tract in Union Springs, with a friend in the morning.

It is tough! This is bad to say probably, but if it'll stay tough for another week or two, them weekend warriors will be screaming, "they're gobbled out", and it'll take some pressure off and leave heavy pickings for when it gets good!
