Looks as though turkey master had a good day at least. My little boy had baseball games today and I told him I wouldn't miss all of them; so I went and hunted till 9:00. I actually left 2 birds gobbling. Pretty sure one would've died if I could've stayed but then again who knows; he gobbled prob about 80 times. He didn't seem like he wanted to play the game early but was beginning to show some good signs about the time I had to leave. He won't be so lucky Monday. I can get more hunting done during the week and won't be in a hurry. At this point I just don't want to mess them up and the first part of the week is looking good!

Congrats Teamduckdown!
Guys I went this morning with the same first-time hunter that missed Sunday morning. Fogged eyeglass issue fixed. THIS TIME she missed at @ 40 yards. wide open in the middle of a logging road! Bird gobbled about 6-8 times on the roost, gobbled at me one time after he hit the ground around 100 yards away and never said another word. Showed up about 20 minutes after he flew down, came into view strutting and drumming, hung up and wouldn't come closer. I told her to go ahead and shoot, she shot, bird ran off! She then told me that she "didn't have a clear shot". Apparently she couldn't move her gun over enough due to a small sapling right against her right knee, prevented moving the gun the last few inches, so she shot. I didn't know this until after the fact when she told me and said "I thought I was aiming close enough to kill it".
Hunting by myself in the morning, maybe I'll get one.

Ok here's the story...
Third spot I went to this morning as I was driving in I saw a gobbler spook out of the log road that I was driving in on. This bird crossed from my right to my left. So I drove on down the road about 300 yards to the next road on the right, pulled over and parked. My intent was to sneak back down the road I had just came in on and try to sweet talk the gobbler that I had just watched cross the road.
I got out of the truck and was putting my vest on when a gobbler let loose with a thunderous gobble about 100 yards in front of my truck! Immediate change of plans. I sneaked into the edge of the woods (mature thinned pines) and using the terrain and little cover available, tried to get out of sight of my truck. After getting out of sight of the truck I set up and began calling with a box call, just soft yelps, nothing. I waited a few minutes and called again, nothing. After a few more minutes I cut with a diaphragm, nothing. Oops, maybe he saw me? I sat there a couple of minutes and called on a small, squeaky-sounding box call and he gobbled as did another gobbler that was within 50 yards of him, bingo! This took place again three more times. Then I heard the hens, yelping and purring but I couldn't see them due to the terrain and scattered cover. They were about 100 yards away.
The next thing I heard was wings flapping, turkey fight! This went on for what seemed like 10 minutes. Wing-flapping, silence...wing-flapping silence. Then about 5 minutes later I see a hen and a gobbler working my way at about 80 yards. They go behind a briar thicket and a few minutes later the gobbler appears on my side of the thicket at about 65 yards. He never said a word and never strutted, just stared real hard in my direction and and eased my way. When he got in range I gave him a load of #4 Winchester Longbeards.
This is the ugliest turkey I have ever killed. He only has 8 blades in his fan and 2 of those are just quills with feathers at the tips.
17 lbs. 2 oz. 3/4" and 7/8" spurs 8 1/4" beard
score 49.875
Don't know how to post pics.
