Hey Highlandhomeboy, I saw you got some of your pines burnt off this weekend. That will open them up and should bring in the birds. If you bump any make sure the fly south.

We used to drive from montgomery to Aliceville and hunt the tombigbee. Used to be some great duck hunting for alabama. Haven't been that way in a while. There was some public land near the boat launch we used,'there was always tons of deer hunters at that launch. Yall know what public land it was? Probably some good turkey hunting.

Hey Squdron! I saw that ya'll had a heck of a deer season! Hope you are doing well. We did burn some pines last weekend. They will be tough to hunt but hopefully they will be there. There's probably a better chance of me bumping them over to you than killing them!

There are several patches of corp land close to the vienna landing which i think is the closest to Aliceville. A lot of that property looks really good. I can meet you down there if you need someone to explore the area with. I have a map of all the deposit areas somewhere.

And as far as ducks go i have seen about 1 or two good days out of about 2 dozen trips down there. Which is why I only went twice this past season.

Yes it was Vienna boat launch. Yeah I'd love to get over that way and try some of those River birds out one day. I'm not 100% but I thought corps land was bow hunting only? At least around here it is but I will check and see. If I get a wild hair I will pm you and see if we can come up with a plan.

Nevermind I just saw its not Bowhunting only in that area. Looks good, I'm sure there's some birds in that neck of the woods.

That sounds good but even the bow only areas you can still turkey hunt. Ill double check that but i know for sure you can legally duck hunt the bow only areas.

So I guess bow hunting only areas just pertain to deer?

yes I think the COE just doesn't want you using slugs which is your only choice for deer. The bow only areas that i have in mind are around locks and other COE facilities so it makes sense as a measure to protect property and personnel.

Well dang!! I might need to go back and double check the ones around here. There's 1 I always see and beat turkeys on but always thought it was bow hunting only for all game. I'll check it out, thanks for the tip.

Yaper, check out the COE permit and the rules listed there. Rule 14 states turkey hunting allowed even in archery only areas.
