Ended up with another 1911 - Remington R1 - took it out for a short range trip today nice looking gun overall R1 was unfired, brought my very much fired Colt for comparison - Warmed up with the Colt, five rounds per target, 10 yards, rapid fire. Hit low left cause I was wearing a jacket - R-1 - not bad for new gun and first time I'd fired it. Colt (5) R1 (5) Colt (5 more) flyers happen R1 - (5 more) Overall impressive. Good option for a 1911 if you don't want a made in Phillipines pistol or pay Colt/Kimber prices.

Nice, when I was looking at purchasing my first 1911 I looked at a R1, really liked it and hopefully one day I will add one to my collection.

Do they make one with the beaver tail safety so the hammer don't bite my man hands.

We shot 1911s the other day. I like the looks of the Rem 1911. Thats pretty good grouping. I got to shoot a Rock Island 1911 A2 the other day . I really like it till i found out it was made in the Philippes. IT ALMOST shot as good as my Sig Scorpin 1911. Whats the cost of Rem 1911 ?? Around 600?? Retail $675 - $750.

Do they make one with the beaver tail safety so the hammer don't bite my man hands. They make an enhanced version that has different features I think.

I got a Remington R1 stainless as a Christmas present from my wife. It has functioned flawlessly so far and I really like the looks of it. They are good looking guns. Very natural aiming and balance too. That's BC they were designed by an American for Americans!

Yep, the one in OP's post and the one I got are listed at $700 at Gander Mountain, so with their 10% off and the $75 rebate I got it for $555 plus tax.
