I just started shooting traditional so I can't be much help other than to say it's awesome even if you stink at it like me .if I can get to the point of hitting more often than not I doubt my compound will get used much.

Going to fix up some Gold Tip 3555's and go to some type of 2 blade head before long and get serious about finally getting that first Trad. kill.

Black Creek Banshee 54" 55@26" Custom String from Jim Gainey Puff Balls from Jim Calf hair shelf GT 55/75 @ 27.25", 100 gr. brass insert, 5.5" Shield cut left wing feathers 200 gr. steel field tips 125 gr. glue on Wensel Woodsman with 75 gr steel adapter, or 200 gr. VPA screw on broadhead (red) Dawgware side quiver Damascus Shooting Glove
A sharp head kills. People don't realize how much a broadhead shuffling around in a side quiver, or being drawn in and out of foam can dull it quickly. Keep them sharp, and see the results!!

Picked up a dozen Gold Tip 3555 XT Hunters on sale at Woods and Water yesterday. Ordered a dozen 100gr brass inserts and six Zwickey Delta 170gr. broadheads from 3 Rivers Archery. Can't wait to get everything in and start tuning.

Can't wait to get everything in and start tuning. You must be shooting a pretty light bow or have a short draw. That's some substantial weight up front.

Yep, I'm cursed with a short draw length. I'll be pulling about 48#.

Is that the 48# Bushman? Are those the same bows that John Sullens was selling at his shop in Arley? If So I shot some of them and even met the bowyer. They were exceptionally well built bows and I thought his RD designs were quite nice. It's a Bushmen M5 American Native. I got it from Sipsey Traditional Archery about 8 or 9 years ago at a trad shoot at Tannehill. I traded a Great Plains Rio Bravo recurve and some cash for it. Once I shot it, I had to have it.

I have 8 trad bows. All the way from BBO to Italian ILF. I haven't run across many people around here that shoot ILF bows. I was really big into Trad archery some years ago. I don't know how many bows and/or limbs I still have. One of my most prized possessions at the time was an original DAS riser. I later bought a 3Rivers Dalaa and sold the DAS, or at least I think I sold it. LOL I'd have to look. There aren't a whole lot of left handed DAS risers out there. I have some older Hoyt competition risers. The may be olympic risers, I haven't dug through that stuff in several years. I do remember this though, the riser off an old Bear Whitetail compound makes one heck of a recurve after putting some ILF plates on it.

I do remember this though, the riser off an old Bear Whitetail compound makes one heck of a recurve after putting some ILF plates on it. I had one of the 21" risers made by DAS. It was the one that was built up at the stabilizer hole to add weight. IBO ruled it illegal for barebow so I sold it and started shooting a Spigerelli 650 barebow riser. It's just as heavy and balanced as the DAS but IBO legal. I have one of the first Dala bows from 3 Rivers. It's a nice hunting bow but for targets I prefer my Spig riser with Winex limbs for a 68" bow. I shoot it barebow with no sights. My wife has taken over my Dala with a set of 25lb limbs. She is hard to beat shooting that rig with some 1000 spine Redlines. For a pure hunting bow, I have a Widow 62" PLX. I like that it shoots well and tunes with a variety of different arrow weights. It's just easy to tune with whatever arrow I want to shoot by just adjusting point weight. In theory all bows should be just as easy to tune but I have found that they aren't most of the time.

the more centershot the bow the easier it is to tune... Yes, and tiller and limb timing also come into play. My Dala and ILF have adjustable side plates to change the amount of center shot. Both those bows are adjustable enough in center shot , tiller, and even draw weight to tune any reasonable combination of arrow and tip I want to shoot but the PLX just shoots a wider range well without any adjustment at all.
