there was a black guy at work that would brag about taking his pitbull to downtown madison. where it killed a girls toy dog on a leash. something about these dogs make certain people feel they have power over others, which I guess they do.

Based on numbers owned a wolf hybrid is probably more dangerous. But pits/rotts account for most of the serious dog injuries/deaths in the country.

Not only this, even if the stats were dead accurate, they're flat out weak.
Out of 2800 attacks doing actual harm, over a span of 20 years, only 960 maimed/deaths.
And there is no telling how many pit bulls that are out their. But Id guess a couple million. No severe threat
But i still wouldnt trust them around little kids. I have owned a pit and pit/mix, but got rid of them after my kids got big enough to open the front door.

It is a breed that was bred around fighting. People on here are relatively intelligent about animals.

What dogs are good for pointing quail? Running deer? Pulling sleds in Alaska?

Greyhounds are lightning fast. Why isn't the Iditarod won every year by a team of greyhounds? Can't you just raise them to be great sled dogs?

Why is it so hard for some people to understand that some dogs were bred for fighting and you can't train that out of them. Those dogs are more apt to attack someone.

I do agree that how the dog is raised has a great deal of impact. Nature vs Nurture - Both have significant impact.

I didn't use anything for stats. People asked where he got that and what it was showing. I just stated I copied the link location from his graph and found out where it came from and what it showed. I could care less what it shows. If you want a pit, get a pit. Each person can make their own choices. People choose to get pits, and others choose not to. But don't lump me in just because I stated where the info came from.

I suspect no graph, statistic, or compiled data would be sufficient for you to change your mind. Whether your dog is the most wonderful and most well behaved Pit Bull on the planet, the breed is an overall dangerous mixture of power and aggression. There are literally hundreds of cases per year of them snapping and killing men, women, and children. Whether you choose to believe it or not, they are far and away the biggest contributor to fatal maulings and attacks of ALL domesticated dog breeds. It’s great you have a good dog with a good temperament, but the fact of the matter is the overall breed is dangerous and a ticking time bomb.

I can assume as well then that no graph, nor statistic is going to change your mind niether. I can also preclude you havent done much research on the issue. But it dont take much research to tell me a dog with teath can bite. Hell everybody knows that. What everyone dont seem to realize is, Its A Person Problem. Not a dog problem, not a pit problem. You show me the safest dog out there and i can show you a dog that can attack and tear your pants leg off. The safest medium sized dog can be made to tear your face off. I can also tell you this. A pitbull breed corectly, raised correctly. Is one of the smartest, loyal and loving dogs there is.

Got a pit in the neighborhood that stays on a chain outside in the late afternoon in his yard. Also have a pointer that stays in his yard in the afternoon. Both live with fairly well off family's in nice houses with older kids. Both stay inside during the majority of the day. The pit however acts like it wants to kill you while the pointer barks then lays down to watch you go by. The pit has attached one neighbor lady who was walking by with her husband. The owners still have the pit, it is a matter of time before it seriously injures a child but they love their dog so they keep it. I imagine I will eventually have to shoot it when it gets loose one day.
