This. Hang out and drink fruity drinks in swimsuits. Can't beat it.

I would probably choose a cruise, warm and very inexpensive.

Do a european trip and travel to a few different countries. Your wife will love it!
We actually have done it many times.

This year are doing a trip starting in Copenhagen, Denmark, and heading south thru the Swiss and Italian alps, ending up in Venice. From there to Rome for 4 days, then Marseilles, France on the French Riviera and ending up in Madrid, Spain.

We fly into Copenhagen and leave from Madrid.

I also found us apartments in each city, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Venice, Rome, Narseilles and Madrid too. Very nice ones. We always rent apts and it can actually be cheaper or equal to a hotel, and we only go out for 1 meal a day, Instead we eat at our apt for breakfast and lunch and save alot on food costs too.

Took my wife here a few years ago. Beautiful Chalet, hot tub, horse back riding, river rafting, fishing, great food, etc..... And being in Montana is never a bad thing.

It is isnt it? I tell people the costs that get you are the airfare, then the eating out 3 meals a day.
Thats why when I go I stay for 3-4 weeks and see alot. and ALWAYS rent apartments or houses everywhere we stay.
I learned that when we used to go to Orlando. A house rental (the vacation villa deals with small private pools) was the only way to go. I saved a lot of money doing that.

What time of the year?
Late June - fly to anchorage and drive north to Denali. Come back after a few days and go south from anchorage to Seward and take a day cruise to see glaciers.

Any time during the summer - Bar Harbor, Maine. There are numerous coastal towns that are beautiful.

Astoria, Oregon and coastal Pacific region of OR and WA are incredible.

Yellowstone AFTER school starts back in September.

If she is more inclined to cities and shopping, NYC on Memorial Day or Labor Day weekend is the time to go. The locals all leave town. I saw the Mets and Yankees at home and no issues getting cabs.

Boston has been my favorite big city.

Fall colors in New England

Just get in the car and drive, but don't be in a hurry. See some things and visit some places you always wanted. One of our best, we just hit the road, stayed gone 8 days and stayed in 7 different hotels.
