Reason I ask is those jokers in the turkey forum are off the reservation. I felt pretty decent about my old 870 pattern @ 40yrds till I went looking through their patterning thread. 400 pellets at 50 yards out of a 410 and crap like that. "Oh that could be a 80 yard gun man, nice pattern!"

WTF, aint that what rifles are for?! laugh

It looks to me like I can kill one out to 40 with 35 and under being preferable. But you cant use those nutjobs as a measuring stick. grin

Asking if there are any "normal turkey hunters" is like asking if there are any "normal crack heads"....

we're all screwed up as a box of bream hooks.

No. Anybody who chases nasty overgrown chickens through tick and snake infested woods has to be sick in the head. laugh

I was thinking their may be some "casual" turkey hunters like my buddy KBush on here. He loves hunting them but if he gets one or two he starts fishing. Thats what I meant. Thats seems "normal" to me and how I plan on acting after I kill my first one. With a little dignity.

yeah they make it out to be some huge challenge killing those stupid buzzards. its so easy from 20 feet up a pine. a lot easier than sitting on the ground waiting on a rattle snake to bite you.

One of two things will happen here! You either kill your first one and either stop hunting them or possibly continue marginally (as you say Kbush does) just because you want to be outside.

Or!..... You'll kill your first one and become hopelessly gripped in an obsession that makes anyone on the outside looking in see you as abnormal! Lol!

If you happen to fall into the second category some of us "normal" turkey hunters will give you some salt to eat with that crow!

Im with Joe..Its way more of a challenge to shoot em outta a stand with a rifle at 200 yards than it is sitting on the ground worrying bout getting snakebit.

Me? Burned? By someone who thinks sitting 20' up a tree ambushing an overgrown goat that's too stupid to get out of the highway is a challenge! Lol!

Nah! I'm not burned! I'm excited! Turkey season is almost here!

Sometimes it bothers me that I agree with you two on so many things. And I consider taking my own life.

One thing for sure is that asking a legitimate question about public land and getting a post with the truth is like trying to figure out which weather forecast is right. The difference is that the 90% that are wrong know it when they post it.

(You may get a pm or two that does help a lot).

In my limited experience among true turkey hunters, thats because they are jerks. You could have 5K acres they have no hope of ever hunting loaded with gobblers they cant kill. The problem is they dont want you killing them either. grin
