ain't my motor, but i had one, and let me tell you, it will flat plane a lightweight 14-foot jon boat with big ol boy in it. it would be just the ticket for a 10-12-footer. i cannot say enough good things about the tohatsu-made small mercury four-strokes ...

and yes, you can tilt it up for shallow drive. just keep the water intake in the water ...

I would think that typically this motor would be on a jon boat. I have seen people put them on bow fishing boats as a kicker motor or inflatable life boats at the beach. Yes it will tilt. I will try to take a few photos tonight.

Paulfish4570, I appreciate any info you can provide to folks interested. I have never used a 5 hp so I am relying on what I have read and seen on youtube. At some point I will regret selling this. It is small/light enough to haul around without gutting yourself, but should push a jon boat very well.

I called Mercury yesterday and the 3 year warranty is good through January 15, 2016. That gives the buyer 1 year risk free. The warranty is transferable by filling out a form and sending a copy of the bill of sale to Mercury
