I have a spreadsheet that has times recorded as such: 23:01,13:24,08:58 etc. I need to do the following:

1. Add 30 minutes to all of these the times.
2. Use the original time and the new time (the one that had 30 minutes added to sort a bunch of observations).

For example if I have a survey time of 1:00 I want all the observation made from 1:00 - 1:30 designated as "A" observations and all observations made from 1:31 - 2:00 designated as "B" observations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

-Brian

Try this. Add a column next to the current times. In the new cell right next to the time type "='cell reference of original time'+ .021". This should give you the time plus 30 min. I'm not sure why it is .021 but it is. I'm not sure I understand your second question. Give me a littel more information and I may be able to help. Feel free to PM me your email address and I can send you a formula with the first part if you like.

Use and =If function.

=IF(AND(H9>E9,E9>G9),TRUE,FALSE)

You want true to be the cell that you are calculating.
False = "" (this will return nothing in that cell

Then simply total the cells for the columns of interest.

You can also do a =Sumif function to just total the data.

That works....so my second problem......I have a group of surveys that are 1 hour in length. During these surveys I have several observations that occurred throughout the hour long survey period. The time of each observation was recorded. What I need is to designate any of the observations made in the first 30 minutes as "A" observations and any observations made in the last 30 minutes as "B" observations.

Thanks

Brian

Are all your times either on the hour or half hour?
