BUKFEVR92 and I are done for the year:
Our deer sightings were way, way down compared to previous years. Saw a lot during bow season, but typically we don't shoot does during bow season. Our best hunts (sightings) were in the woods vs. green fields, but even then the deer movements seemed minimal.
I did see an absolute monster of a buck Saturday, but his left side was broken about 2" above the hairline (if he had the matching side - he'd have been a 200+ lb 10-point); however, since we had filled the freezer - we were both looking for another shoulder mount. I would love to see the deer that broke it though. BUKFEVR92 had the opportunity to see an absolute trophy buck earlier in the year (based on game camera pictures) 150+ class deer, but he was moving too fast and he couldn't get a clean shot. He's the only person that saw the deer, so we hope that he made it.
Year in review:
Me - 2-does, 1-buck, 3-boars
BUKFEVR92 - 1-doe, 1-buck, 2-young pigs
We now move on in an attempt to eradicate our pig problem and probably kill a few tree rats along the way. We are pretty excited about the upcoming turkey season - we saw a ton of turkeys during deer season (finally our turkeys are making a comeback).
It's been a real pleasure being on a team with a group of guys that actually hunt and since everyone was able to get a buck - I'd say we all had a pretty dang good year.
