What road kill suggested... And recoil when done... Just use finest grade steel wool... Similar to sandpaper grades

Ive taken a #2 pencil and rubbed the rust spot (graphite) and then use an eraser on it with good results

NO STEEL WOOL!!!!!!!!!
That ruins the bluing. Hoppes makes a "lead and rust" rag that works great and doesn't scratch the gun. It also doesn't take any blue off the area that is not rusty. You can then touch it up with bluing pen if you want to. STeel wool is BAD! Step away from the steel wool.................
I'm playing, but the Hoppes rag is great!!

Ive taken a #2 pencil and rubbed the rust spot (graphite) and then use an eraser on it with good results Now THAT'S a new one! I always just 0000 steel wool, oil and go very slow.
