Done it with one of mine. I used a sharp off a dog leash on my pull rope. I didnt notice it didnt close. First thing to hit was my scope.it busted eye piece. Kind of gives you sick feeling

If it were mine, I'd sell that scope.

Earlier this season I got done hunting got to the truck unloaded my rifle put it on the tool box loaded my stuff up got in the truck took off went up a big hill heard something didn't pay it any attention till I looked down an my gun wasn't there I don't think the truck got stopped before I put it in park to find my rifle laying on my tree stand I was pissed at myself went an shot an nothing was wrong with it

That one was handled safely since it was unloaded going into the stand..

What the SOB is trying to say Steve, is that me dropping a unloaded gun, out of the stand when I was climbing in, is the same as his bed buddy that was looking at people through his crosshairs.. A GW at that.. He just don't have the balls to say it.. This is about the third post he has beat around the bush.. Thats my opinion...

heck no.. I been climbing since I was 10... It had some burlap around it, that rifle was short barreled. I was going to prop it up, while I got my things settled, Well, It was propped on the burlap and not the stand railing. So when I turned loose, it just fell right on out..

That's why I ALWAYS take the round out of the chamber and close the bolt over the rounds in the mag. I do it before I pull my gun up or let it down.

Well, it went, ping, pop, pow, boom on the way down.. Sounded like it hit every piece of metal on the way down.

Daniel, I was laughing so hard at myself last friday evening cause I was dropping stuff left and right out of a tripod. I looked like a damn greenhorn. I Threw my binoculars off, then pissed on them, my coke and a hat. I was tempted to go ahead and unload my rifle and throw it so it didnt shoot me when I knocked it off accidently.

I have never ran over a rifle but I found a woodsmaster 742 many years ago that someone had drove over in a muddy parking spot and squashed it down pretty good.It trashed the weaver that was on it.Nobody ever claimed it.Still shoots good.Sorry for your bad luck.

DW, It's good to know some people don't mind being made fun of, at there on expense.

When i was younger i was climbing out of a ladder stand and my gun slipped off my shoulder, hit the first rung and buried the barrel about six inches into the ground. It ended up cracking the eye piece. We went back to camp and shot it a few times and it wasn't off at all. It's hard to beat a Leupold.

The other seven bullets made that one bullet get out to puke!

Way back in the day when I was just learning to hunt by myself, the rope broke while I was hoisting my 30-30 up to me. It stuck barrel first about 8 inches into the mud. That was a bad feeling looking down at that nice rifle sticking butt up from the ground. Hunt over.
