So frustrating. My favorite piece of land we lease is just barely east of the dividing line in Henry Co. Taking off tomorrow and Friday to hit it hard, but the mature bucks haven't been chasing much yet it seems. Very thankful we have property on the other side as well, but what gives?

only reason I can say is because the deer go into rut before the last weekend of season, bucks I have pics of in the Dothan city limits have been chasing does since just after christmas

Well they rut at different times all over the place. I just wonder who paid who to get the 10 days in November/Decemeber to hunt vs the 10 days in February.

Because the rut there has been over for a month.

So thats why I observed young bucks chasing all this past weekend? And why scrapes are still getting worked? Do the deer east of County Road 57 look across the road at the hot does west of 57 and think "Boy, I'd sure love to go hump her but I'm east of the line" ?

I'm talking about the very southeastern tip of the state, not the northern half.

Chris, I hunt on the edge of the Henry/Barbour co line. Luckily, I am one mile inside the Barbour co line. Our bucks have just started rutting and from what I've seen, they're just starting.
