The scope is on top and the barrel is on the bottom. The gun doesn't move. So the bullet travels up to the scopes line of sight. Unless y'all think the scope goes down and meets the bullet. Listen.......... I just heard somebody shoot and hit a deer instead of a pine tree. Lol

I've heard them hit stuff before maybe it wasn't a deer but you can hear the bullet impact. You can definetly hear an arrow hit

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Ok let's dive into this.

Here's the scenario, and we have all probably been in this one.

You are sitting in a shooting house on a greenfield. Your buddy is in another shooting house say 1/2 (7 or 800 yards) mile away.

He shoots a doe with a high powered rifle.

You know after hearing the shot if he hit the deer or not?

Maybe my hearing is bad, but I can't distnguish the difference in that scenario.

I have personally hear the bullet make a sudden pop after the shot.

Yes, but you don't know what he hit (deer, tree, water). Lots of trees get hit, but I do know the sound y'all are talking about.
We shoot a 44mag rifle a lot and it makes a hell of a pop when it hits my metal sign target from 100 yards.

There are 2 sceneries: if you are shooting at a target(deer) with a subsonic rifle you will hear the impact after the shot.

If someome else is shooting and super sonic rifle and you are down range of the target(deer) then you will hear the impact of the bullet then the report of the rifle.
"Thump then boom" even though the boom happens first the bullet went supersonic and is faster than the sound of the report when it hits the target(deer) . Now the two sound waves are "in a race" and depending on the range the thump will get there before the boom. If the person is shooting the other direction ( away from you) then you wont hear the impact of the bullet. Clear as mud but I have "heard" this happen.

I tend to have very good hearing when it comes to hunting, I can hear the slightest little noise. but I've never been able to "hear the bullet hit the deer" when someone else shoots, even when other people say they did hear it when one of the guys at our place shoots. like someone said above, I'd be willing to bet the direction the shooter was shooting in relation to you would make or break hearing the impact

Because of big, heavy, slow moving bullet...about 2000fps.

BUT, I've heard bullet impact on deer with my son's .270 when I was about a half mile down the way from him and have heard it from unknown shooters in the distance too.
