Well no luck. Couldn't find anything more than we did last night.
And he swears his Remington 700 270 is dead on at 100. He gets buck fever kind of bad I guess, he's missed two others this year. How much time did you spend looking? With the looks of that gob, that deer is dying it already dead. I'd spend all day looking for him, but that's just me.

You need a to get dog to look. He dead. I agree.... Get a dog. Call idahomike, let his dogs work. That deer is dead somewhere unless he ran straight to a vets office.

Looks sorta like guts...deer are damned tough...but my gut says he dead... Ive lost deer...2 in 40 yrs... Not saying this shooter fits the description...but damn...some folks need to learn to use a rifle He can make a complete detailed description of his antlers and cant hit him in the chest?... Show him a picture where does he aim? Does he flinch? Buck fever? (you can learn to control that somewhat with practice) but damn...its a crying shame when people put a ton of time and effort and money to hunt...then not be GOOD with a rifle...which is fixable...and nobody is born knowing how to shoot properly... Know a WORLD CLASS skeet shooter, as in Olympics who misses deer at 50 yards with a rifle...helluva shooter, but terrible with a rifle plus Buck fever nails him hard...but he never shoots a rifle except hunting...
Details on bullet?
(btw everybody knows a 270 cant kill deer:)

Screw the buzzard talk...every time I read these stories I get more and more aggravated. Call Mike...even if the deer is alive, his dog will track it down and hold it there so you can put another shot on him...there is no reason not to retrieve that deer or at least make one hell of a good try.

Yup, no reason to let buzzards get to it first.

I lost one two weeks ago. I shot him in the morning and had excellent bubbly blood but couldn't find him. It was going to be be very cold that night so I decided to let him lay thinking I would find him the next morning. After looking for hours and days I did not. I waited too long to put a dog on him and if it happens to me again I will call in a dog immediately. My advice...don't wait, get a good dog lined up now!

(btw everybody knows a 270 cant kill deer:) I know that you're not saying this guy, but still I'm sure he feels like crap. Maybe he studied him good before he shot, and got nervous. That doesn't mean he doesn't know how to shoot a rifle. Might have been the biggest deer he's ever seen. No amount of range time can overcome that. It can help but not eliminate. Like you did say deer are tough its called hunting for a reason not killing. Mistakes happen and so do bad shots in great situations. No need to beat the guy up other than maybe should have got a dog on it earlier.i think the deer is dead as well though. And as far as look for buzzards I would exhaust every effort I had to find out before that
It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.
