My parter shot 4 times at what he says was a big 8 with forked G2s. We found blood spattering for about 50 yards that turned into drops every 5-10 feet and smears on sage grass and briars about 18-20" off the ground. Tracked him about 250 yards before trail completely petered out. He went down in a gulley and came back up so Im pretty sure there is no leg or shoulder damage. All blood save for the pic below was thin, seemed almost watered down. This is by far the most substantial thing we found. Dead deer?

Eventually. Probably bedded down, I'd find a dog or look for buzzards in a couple of days.

Put a dog on the trail and go get him. Probably a low brisket shot.

He's down and dying. Get a dog on him and recover your buck. Good luck.

That piece in the picture is thick and cohesive. I picked that up and placed it on that log which is about 6" from where it hit the ground. Bloody goo, I couldn't figure out what it might be.

I have to ask, has he sighted his rifle lately? Usually, if someone can see a deer well enough to know he has split G2's, he should be able to kill him with 4 shots. It's hard to say whether he's dead or not. Did you find any hair? If so, what color was it?

Well no luck. Couldn't find anything more than we did last night.

And he swears his Remington 700 270 is dead on at 100. He gets buck fever kind of bad I guess, he's missed two others this year.

Most good bucks i kill, i have no clue how many points they have until i walk up on them. I know they have 3 up on both sides, but that is all. As soon as i know that he's a shooter, then i get into killing mode.
