Beautiful morning. Could not hunt yesterday, so thanking God this a.m. from a tree. River is high and bucks are on their feet. Had a great 8 to 50 and thought he was on a string to 20. He had other plans.

I don't play fair when they start chasing and usually carry my bow and rifle. I saw him at about 70 behind me. Stood up and thought he was coming straight to me at 20 yds. Went bellow me and came back above me. Had the cross hairs on him and decided he beat me. Hopefully my daughters will get a shot soon OR I can get in the right spot w the bow.

How big was he?

He would have been a great first Bama bow buck. Nothing massive and was just outside the ears. Could not determine if it was a 2.5 or 3.5 through the timber. Having a 2 buck limit per member makes you think a little harder when you also have kids that hunt. It was a great morning. Last afternoon of doe shooting with guns, so the girls get to chase them this afternoon.

Hunting Bankhead National Forest this afternoon. Set up in some red oaks 150 yards from bedding area. There are a few acorns left that every hog,turkey,squrill and deer has flipped every leaf in here over. Good luck yall.

Bout that time fellas...

I hunted this morning with my buddy. Sat him in a good spot and about 0800 he shot a doe. He got down and it was a gut shot... I told him to climb back up and well give her some time. we sat till 1030 I climbed down and went over to him. I had him show me where she was and where she ran.. No blood anywhere.. I started looking while he climbed down.. By the time he climbed down i had found her. Im glad he finally got one!

Seen zero. I was just reaffirming why I hate Bankhead in January.
