What type of sharpener do y'all use for broadheads? I've used a ceramic stick before on muzzy blades but I'm having trouble with the NAP blades. I have some hellrazors and kill zone blades that I can't get sharp. They must be a much harder steel than other brands.

I use a 16" Nicholson bastard file and an Arkansas stone for the Wensel Woodsman heads.

Thanks for the reply. I have three stones so I may need to start with a courser stone, then move to the smooth one to finish it. Seems like I saw where Shaw had sharpened some Kill zones, maybe he'll chime in.

I'm having the same problems about getting the hell razors sharp. I've tried a diamond stone and an arkansas stone and can't get them sharp again. Tried going pulling it and moving it side to side.

I gave up on my hell razors. There's no telling how many deer you could kill with one of them if you could keep them sharp. I've tried everything on them and finally gave up. I don't have any problems sharpening my Buck knives or other blades but there's something special about the NAP steel. They look Bullet proof but if you can't sharpen them they're no good.

You start with pressure, and gradually let off pressure as you advance the head on the file to stone cycles.

Almost letting the weight of the head only as you push it on the stone at the end of the cycle.

Keep up with the number of times each side is pushed, and do the same for the other two sides. 11-11-11, 8-8-8, 5-5-5, 3-3-3, 2-2-2, 1-1-1, etc.

Dullness of head determines the amount of times needed or not.

Here's an oldy but goody sample:

A tootsie roll installed on a die grinder would probably work. also the edge of a belt sander would surly put some kind of edge on anything. ive used both to sharpen really hard steel. broadheads I use a bastard file. just be carfull if you follow my advice.

I happened across this video last night. I'm gonna give it a try on the hell razors. There has to be a way to get them as sharp as they were out of the package.

I have some hell razors and montec cs heads laying around that I'd like to put back into service. I have swapped over to the Magnus Snuffer's now because of the lifetime warranty. It's like buying a pack of heads that will last you for the rest of your life.

I use the G5 diamond sharpener. It's been the best I've found. I apply a very light coating of oil and sharpen away. Works great on every head I've put on it.

Spot Hogg makes the best sharpener I know of. Its called Bloody Buddy, fully adjustable for any angle and head or blade. The downside is they are a pricey, but they will last a long time.
