Considering less than 5% of revenue is from ticketing, I doubt it. Wouldn't miss the money if they didn't write them for the most part. Decreasing license sales is a much bigger loss of revenue but there's no room for logic around here rolleyes

One of our guys got checked this week. First time in 20 years. All they asked to see was a harvest record which was blank but that's what they wanted.

That just sounds wrong to me. Why even have a distance limit or out of site rule if any deer crossing your path to feed is considered baiting? For that matter the law should say that it is completely illegal during hunting season if that were the case.

I don't use corn but that just sounds crazy to me.

Why else would you put corn out? That don't make any sense! So if you pour corn in their bedding area wherever that is you're good to go according to the warden you talk to? SMH

It alls boils down to the fact that there is a law in alabama which makes baiting illegal. The dcnr does not have the authority to creat or repeal laws, so they skirted the issue and created a guideline for supplemental feeding enforcement.

People wanted to hunt over corn, and the dcnr provided a lame set of guidelines for enforcement. This crap is no different than hunting doves over what is considered a common agricultural practice.

Wrong! Very little fine money goes back to the DCNR, so all this does is create more work and confusion for the GWs. It does however, create a demand for more feeders to be sold. I wonder who benefits from that?

It sure helps him....... Same as another board member who has a high fence operation that sells bucks in their pen for >$15000 a piece for the "hunters" there. Can't have a highfence worth a crap without supplemental feeding. They did this for themselves, not joe blow.
It's all in the minutes of the board meetings. Ten minutes of Google searching on the board members and you all will understand.

Being a LEO, I try to take this law for how it's written and have discussed it with a couple different game wardens. If it's over 100 yards and out of your visual sight, no ticket should be written. One warden told me if you had a stand on a food plot and scattered corn over 100 yards from the stand and the grass was high enough to not visually see the corn, then that was legal in his book. Officer discretion is one thing, but should not be utilized for the sole purpose of "your" interpretation of the law in order to write a ticket. Law is way too vague and needs to be updated with more specifics.

Yep, just like he did when Alabama introduced a muzzleloader season the week before gun season came in.

This is what makes absolutely no sense. We have numerous GW from different areas of the state who are doing different things. Which tells me there is no direction from the state or higher levels of LEO on the subject. They are just letting everyone do their own thing. Stupid. Just like the regulation. IMO no judge in the state should find a hunter guilt until the regulation is corrected and the regs made clear to everyone.

I attended the Hunter Education course with my sons last month and the Warden who came to give his part addressed the new regs. He said if you made a good effort to abide by the 100 yard and out of sight part he didn't have a problem. He said there were still so many folks baiting 50 yards away in plain view that he had all the work he could handle. I would say quit bitching and do it the way the regs say and you'll at east have a defense if you get a ticket.
