Yes we were. Problem is we were added to the FB pages without asking to be. I've removed myself from both of them.

I already had a facebook. And with the add of Aldeer to there I get on here even more because I can put a face with a name or handle. Also I can post a picture a lot easier when I am hunting because the service sucks were I hunt Don't have to go though multiple sites. I would think that will help also. People in Alabama will see this group then they have to register on here to be a part of the Facebook Group.

So stop whining. I reckon You would get mad to hear a bunch of us text daily also. You wanna stop that to.

I'm not in the facebook gorups, but I just clicked on the Rayonier link three times.

I would tend to think a facebook page would attract more people to the sight out of curiosity. Therefore, more hits for advertisers.

Did anyone ask if was ok to use the aldeer name before hand? I'm pretty sure if the owners would have wanted a facebook page created that they would have created one themselves. The fact is this place is free to everyone because of sponsors and what little money comes in from the classifieds and now someone has created a classifieds page as well to attempt to take that away too. Pretty sorry IMO.

The facebook page clearly states no classified ads on it. It says to take everything to the Aldeer site for anything you want to sell.

"No classifieds" is beside the point. The ALDeer name was appropriated for FB without permission unless someone asked.

I love how you get complaining and whining about all the "new fangled" "hippie" internet fads like Facebook, twitter, etc.. while posting behind a new computer or 4g smart phone. I dont know the ins and outs of how Skinny and other owners get paid, its not my business but like Cody I see it helping and not hurting. I've led numerous people on FB to Aldeer over the years that before had no clue what Aldeer or a hunting forum even was.


If theres a copyright issue then deal with it from that standpoint as Im sure its already being discussed behind the scenes between mods/owners. I didnt neccesarily agree with making the page the way it came about but to me its an extention of the good guys and gals on this site and good publicity. There may be some sillyness on there (no more than on this forum) but 90% of it is folks posting hunting and deer pictures. Skinny can check the numbers later on but Id bet my meager paycheck he will benifit from it greatly. Like it or not FB is growing daily and so is the $$ it generates. Im sure Mark Zuckerburg got some sneers and scoffs when he came up with it 10 years ago, but $33 billion later, he can have the last last.





This was my only concern as well. I dont know if permission was granted or not. I dont know what went on behind the scenes.

Whether or not y'all choose to believe him, doekiller is right. It will eventually destroy this page. It doesn't help, it hurts. I've seen it firsthand. Most of the guys that banter back and forth, spend more time on FB because it is easier to post pics and such. You slowly start to visit this site less and less because most of the guys you bantered with have already posted their stuff on FB. You also visit here less because you don't want to sift through the crap you already saw on FB.

I'm telling you it happens. Y'all don't have to believe it, but FB groups have killed several forums. Would you come here to only read the classifieds?
